My self-summary
I'm equal parts sassy and sweet.

I'm pretty tangential and enjoy conversations that go in lots of directions. I'm an interesting combination of cynic-and-believer-in-all-possibilities.

I'm open minded and exploratory. Intellectual and artistic curiosity are both really important to me. Feminism and social justice are important to me. Hopefully, these things are important to you as well. I'm looking to meet like-minded people who believe that life is an adventure and that connections with others are some of the most valuable things in this world that we can experience.

After a whole bunch of years wrestling with the term and my relationship with it, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that I identify as polyamorous. I have a lovely partner and a number of important people in my life, so that would need to be okay with you.
What I’m doing with my life
Making big, ridiculous, community based art projects happen.

Starting a kick ass, family friendly co-op. Basic idea: several caring and committed adults live in a big house (or triple decker) and support each other in raising kids. If you're interested in learning more about this, message me.

Being a big science nerd and wrangling other science nerds. Day job is being a project manager for a nonprofit Biotech company.

Traveling as much as I can. Recent adventures have included Costa Rica, Burning Man, Amish country (for real) and a bunch of local hikes and road trips. Just discovered Atlas Obscura. Obsessed.
I’m really good at
falling into bodies of water. it's a serious talent.
interpreting experimental design.
being completely oblivious to cultural iconography. one Halloween there was a pumpkin with the Wu-Tang Clan symbol carved into it, which I thought was the Batman symbol.
cooking. laughing and making people laugh. laughing at myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
Whatever's in my head is usually out of my mouth within moments. You won't have to wonder what I'm thinking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors - Tom Robbins, Barbara Kingsolver (this woman is SO awesome), Richard Dawkins (though I am sad that it turns out he's a sexist prick)
I generally enjoy pop-sciencey stuff that doesn't get too bogged down in kinetic equations or statistics... Open to recommendations!

Movies - High Fidelity, Goodbye Lenin, Motorcycle Diaries, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Dogma

TV - Honestly, don't have time for a lot of TV these days, but in the past have enjoyed Dollhouse, The Guild. Oh, I am watching (and loving) Orange is the New Black.

Music - all of that terrible stuff from the 90s is my jam. Also, Aimee Mann, Ben Harper, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, stuff Pandora tells me to listen to. By virtue of one of the circles I roll in I've learned not to hate EDM.

Podcasts - This American Life, Radiolab, Serial, please make recommendations to me....

Food - can I list ingredients instead? among other things, fresh sage, fresh cilantro, cheese (all kinds!), butternut squash, cayenne pepper, caramelized onions. I love to cook, especially for other people
The six things I could never do without
coffee, gmail, spices, colors, my amazing friends and family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to build a cooperative living structure that creates a stable and supportive environment in which to raise kids.

What direction I want to take with my career and what I need to do to make that happen.

Relationships...finding the way to accomplish simultaneous commitment & individual autonomy and freedom with one's partner is a wonderful and complicated challenge. It's not something to be taken on lightly, but potentially very much worth it in the end.
On a typical Friday night I am
You should message me if
1) you wanna have a beer (or a couple ;-) bonus points if you can find deliciously awesome and bitter IPAs.
2) you are an open, fun person who enjoys and values connecting with others.
3) you want to collaborate on something cool

Listen up dudes (the ladies seem not to have this problem): If your message contains nothing more than a comment about my physical appearance or something to the effect of you want to bone me, I'm either going to ignore you or send you a scathing feminist rant about objectification of women, depending on my mood. Don't want that outcome? Then don't send that kind of nonsense to my inbox. And/or read this:
