I'm quiet and thoughtful, and I enjoy the company of talkative and thoughtful people.
I probably spend too much time staring at clouds.
I admire intellectual curiosity, self-awareness, and empathy.
I adore cloudy weather. If you ever hear me going on about what a beautiful day it is, you can bet the sky is gray. I blame my New Mexico upbringing.
I animate game characters for a living and can occasionally be spotted wandering the forested hills east of Oakland. I've lived all over the country in recent years but I plan on settling in The Bay for a long while. The East Bay has been fantastic so far, but If there's one thing I miss from home it's the broader space and wide-open vistas.
I'm in a polyamorous relationship. I have one serious, long-term girlfriend, and on OKC I'm mostly focused on casual dating (most of the dating in my life has been very serious long-term focused) and am not worrying to much about specific outcomes.
Freelance animating and trying to figure out how to turn independent game development into a sustainable business.
In my spare time I work on indie game projects, draw things, play board games with friends, and occasionally pickle vegetables.
I dabble a little in music. I can play a little piano and I'm learning the harmonica.
Doodling weird creatures.
Worrying about other people.
Gaining the affection of cats.
I've been told that I have the patience of a saint.
I strive to always be compassionate.
I can probably kick your butt in Mario Kart.
I like the Discworld series, Isaac Asimov, and the book Dragon's Egg.
I'm also a fan of comics, both in print and on the web. Some favorites are Seconds, Subnormality, Concrete, Order of the Stick, and Fun Home.
I'll eat nearly anything you put in front of me. My comfort foods are Japanese and Middle-Eastern cuisine. My favorite beers are Stouts and Porters.
I'm especially fond of an old family recipe of lamb-and-rice grape leaf rolls boiled with lemon juice. It's awesome if you like sour, savory food, and it's a lot of fun to make with a bunch of people. Not to be confused with the cold oily Greek version. These are served hot straight from the pot.
I grew up listening to oldies and 90's rock. Beach Boys, Nirvana, The Zombies, Green Day, etc.
I love klezmer and old-fashioned swing.
My favorite band is probably The Ditty Bops.
Some of my favorites are Stranger than Fiction, Spirited Away, Her, and the Godzilla series. I guess I like thoughtful philosophy or dumb fun adventure in my movies.
I'm a bit of an animation geek (I am an animator, after all). I love Studio Ghibli and Pixar, and I like finding animated films that are a little off the beaten path, like The Book of Kells.
Favorites include the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons, Steven Universe, Star Trek: The Next Generation, 30 Rock, Futurama, and Adventure Time . Did I mention I like cartoons?
GAMES (Because why not have a games section! I make them for a living, after all.)
Some of my favorite games are Yoshi's Island, Zelda: Majora's Mask, Undertale, Earthbound, and Minecraft. I also enjoy arty games such as Shadow of the Colossus, Braid, Journey, and Gone Home.
As for board games, a couple of my favorites are Ticket to Ride and Betrayal at House on the Hill.
1) Someone to bounce ideas off of
2) Cloudy skies
3) Time to myself
5) Toilet Paper
6) Fidget toys (I am currently playing with a slinky in my left hand)
I think a lot about the relationship of art and media with society, picking apart the messages of the things I watch and read and pondering what my own art says about me and what I value.
I'm often assembling paintings in my head or rehearsing conversations. I'm usually thinking about some major creative project or another while struggling to stay focused on the one or two projects I'm actually working on.
In short, I'm usually daydreaming.
I usually go out on Weeknights or Sundays to play board games with friends and maybe watch a show or something. Potentially playing D&D. My idea of a good time is usually a quiet night in with friends.
Now I'm the weird adult who does those things in the parking lot on my "coffee breaks". It seems to be more widely accepted in adulthood.
If you're a kind, caring, and curious person.
Maybe I can show you how to make stuffed grape leaves. Maybe you can help learn the harmonica. Maybe we can climb trees in the park.
Tell me about an interesting dream you had and where you think it came from.
