My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well I'm a 39 year old single white male who's never been married and have been that way for much longer than I would like. Some friends finally convinced me to give the online dating a try and I'm hoping that I might get a chance to make some new friends and ideally find that certain someone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Taking it day by day. I've got a good job as a data engineer, helping to build online communities for alumni groups as well as some non-profits. In my time off I'm trying to get out into the world and discover new hobbies. I'm not originally from here and despite having lived here for five years I'm still trying to learn all that KC has to offer.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I've got a fairly logical/analytical mind so I'm pretty good at solving puzzles and problems. I've also been told I'm a good listener.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I would guess my face. Unless they're behind me then I'd guess the back of my head. Or if they're looking at the ground when I come by then probably my feet.

Ok, really I have no idea. It might be that I have a sarcastic/dry sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I have fairly eclectic tastes when it comes to books, music, and movies so it's hard to pick my favorites.

Books: Most recently I've been reading a lot of Jim Butcher (Dresden Files), R.A. Salvatore, and Anne Rice. I used to read a lot of Stephen King, but once he started to churn out a book a week I got off the bandwagon. I've also read a lot of the classics and I'd say my favorite book of all times is The Count of Monte Cristo, although Lord of the Flies and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest are also high on my list.

Movies: I'll watch nearly anything once from Fantasy/Adventure to Psychological Thrillers to Horror movies to old B movies, but probably my favorite genre is comedies. I'm a big fan of older comedies like Animal House, Up in Smoke, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail as well as slightly newer comedies, especially Office Space and anything by Kevin Smith. If I had to narrow it down to my absolute favorites it's probably between Kevin Smith's Dogma and Dazed and Confused.

TV: I've been watching a lot less tv lately, but I still find time for Californication, Game of Thrones, and Lost Girl. I tend to stay away from the major networks, although I do love the Big Bang Theory even though I resist watching the newest ones because I've convinced myself that at some point I'm going to go back and watch them all in order.

Music: You'll usually find my car radio tuned to classic rock (Zeppelin, AC/DC, the Beatles, you name it) which my older brother turned me onto when I was fairly young. Having spent my formative years in the 80s and 90s I've also still got a spot in my heart for hair metal (Skid Row, Cinderella) and grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam) although I don't listen to them all that much any more. I do also listen to slightly heavier stuff (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson) when the mood strikes me. Probably my favorite though is anything Led Zeppelin.

Food: Unlike the others, my tastes in food are far less eclectic. I'm very much a meat and potatoes boy, although I do also pizza, most Italian and Mexican, and some Chinese and Indian. I'm really not into seafood especially sushi, but I do enjoy deep fried shrimp although I guess you can deep fry just about anything and make it good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
There are very few things that "I could never do without". I would definitely never give up my cats. I prefer having my car, tv, computer, and friends. And I'd like to have a special someone to share my life with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
what's next. My brain is always thinking ahead to what I'm going to do next, although the rest of me is trying to slow it down and start enjoying the moment.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Usually hanging out at home or with friends. I'm not really into the whole bar scene although I would like to get out to see more live music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty much an open book, but I need to save something for the first date.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're looking for new friends, someone to just chat with, or ideally open to the potential of something more.

I tend to get the short end of the stick on the whole "nice guys finish last" scenario, so if you're tired of the assholes and looking for someone to treat you the way you should be treated then chat me up.

Finally if you just want to offer constructive criticism on my profile that would be cool as well.
