I am smart, funny, and friendly.
My Self-Summary
I am a spunky young lady in her early thirties (very early
thirties) who can't help but be creative, is always ready with/for
a joke, and loves meeting new people.
I have a flair for the dramatic (meaning I work in
theatre, not that I'm crazy), an
experimental and curious personality and like to live life a little
wilder than the average Canadian girl.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a government-based performing arts centre and love that
it gives me a reason to go to work...and free tickets from time to
time. Nothing says awesome like seeing the orchestra, dance and
theatre companies cheap as free!
I also run a theatre company with my friends, am a professional
actor and spend as much time onstage as I can.
I am also learning to knit.
I’m really good at
I really love to act, write and direct. I find it really easy to
get along with lots of people.
Random facts:
I like to bake pies
I like to knit scarves and dishcloths
I am hard to beat at Jeopardy
I am addicted to Carcassonne
I like to be well-dressed
I'm totally bilingual (English and French)
I am quite silly
The first things people usually notice about me
First they notice my eyes, then my smile, and then probably my
unashamedly loud laugh. I am always laughing or smiling, cracking a
joke or talking up a storm.
They also notice my super skills of fashion. I read the Satorialist
blog and try to incorporate his photographs' design inspiration
into what I wear.
If someone is on the bus with me, they notice I'm reading a book
(fiction, non-fiction, you name it. I like to keep up to date on
the world around me).
If they see me at lunch, I'm surfing the Net on my iPhone or
writing plays on my Netbook.
If they've just bumped into me, they notice I said "sorry".
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I'm into non-fiction hardcore! Anything by Malcolm Gladwell
(Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers), Michael Chabon, Chuck Pahlaniuk,
Jack Kerouac, Dr. Seuss.
Movies: Amelie, Coen Brothers films, film adaptations of books, Tim
Burton, Woody Allen.
TV: Mad Men (yep, that's what I'm addicted to. Will watch it
repeatedly for days...)
Music: Everything with an emphasis on indie rock, electronica, 80's
and The Go! Team.
Food: Yes, please. All different kinds from all different places.
Preferably buffet style. With chopsticks or flatware. No kiwi. I'm
allergic.
The six things I could never do without
1) The Arts
2) My iPhone
3) Music
4) Friends and family
5) Cafe Au Lait
6) 1 metric ton of chocolate
I spend a lot of time thinking about
making the world a better, more creative, fun-filled, open-minded,
naughtier place. I think about making changes in me that I want to
see in the world.
I also spend time wondering whether my outfits make me look weird
or gifted.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends at a pub or Communist-era themed bar
drinking outrageous cocktails with names like Siberian Tempest,
ranting and raving about the state of culture in the world and why
my friends and I are poised to take over the world through sheer
superiority....
or with these friends, playing Carcassonne, eating Timbits.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
is that I am a big, big nerd who is also a little alternative in
her lifestyle.
You should message me if
you can handle raucous, hilarious evenings out, playing board
games, going to shows, super loud laughs and you enjoy a storm in a
teacup. And that's just before 8 p.m.
