Your Notes

I am saturnine, flippant, and unreliable.

My Self-Summary

I like the following things: culture (high and low alike), going out to see the sights, staying in curled up on the couch, outdoors in moderation (I really couldn't exist for long without indoor plumbing), animals except for scaly or slimy ones for the most part, shopping at H&M and Trader Joe's, reading BBC and the Economist as well as semi-trashy gossip blogs, mojitos, learning foreign languages, trying to cook new things, sleeping in on the weekend (which is like 10am for me now), jogging (ok I don't like it per se but it does improve my mood so I make the effort), resolving problems or just avoiding them if I can get away with it, irony and wit, long books I can get carried away in, smiling at babies, good grammar and a healthy vocabulary, men...I think I'll just end here ;)

What I’m doing with my life

I'm in the international development, international politics field. One day I plan to be an Ambassador.

Update: I am applying (as in actively, and totally not putting it off until next weekend) to urban planning and policy programs for next fall. Cross your fingers!

I’m really good at

Listening. Also pretending to listen, but actually ignoring.

Trivial Pursuit.

All kinds of snobbery.

The first things people usually notice about me

My friend at work once told me that I have very good posture ...*edit* this has happened twice now (different people) - I blame the Aeron chair.

I get the cliche eyes thing too when I'm not wearing my glasses.

I've also been told that I scowl sometimes...but I'm actually pretty friendly.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Just about anything that's well written. Favorite authors include Dave Eggers, Dick Francis, Hemingway, Jared Diamond, Jane Austen, Vonnegut, Crichton, Salman Rushdie, I'm sure I can think of more later.

Good ones, also, really bad ones. City of God, L'Albergue Espagnol, Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down, Brokeback Mountain, 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead (original), Not Another Teen Movie, Halloween

Depends on my mood but usually anything with a beat or that you can relax to.

Churrasco specifically picanha and cordeiro, Thai, Sushi, Five Guys(!), just about anything with tomatos in it, pineapple, pistachio icecream, dark chocolate, the list goes on ...oops I forgot Bulgogi!

The six things I could never do without

Intelligent conversation be it about politics, culture, entertainment, or current events

Games, puzzles, trivia (I do this with coworkers at various venues, but I would LOVE to find a group to go to trivia at a gay bar somewhere)

My laptop, or my lap for that matter

Irony

Good times

A warm bed

Certain foreign accents that make me weak in the knees

(Sorry OKcupid I don't subscribe to your fascist ideology that I can only have six things I could never do without!)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My job, these days.

When and where I can travel next.

My family back home.

What I can do/be to make the world a better place.

On a typical Friday night I am

I use Friday nights more often than not to recharge. I'm not really a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday partier any more. I can be persuaded though ;)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm pretty sure I have some kind of dating gypsy curse on me...

You should message me if

you're cute, relaxed, and have something interesting to say about life. Or you just think we'd be good friends.
