My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm the busiest lay-about I know. I try pretty hard to stay busy but I work in a very odd industry and have sporadic hobbies. In a typical month I might work two 90 hours weeks and have two weeks where I don't have any work at all so planning is one of those tricky elements in my life, hence why I have rather sporadic and ever changing hobbies, they have to be worked in around my job. Hey, that's show business.

I grew up over in the U.K and have lived in a few different places. This has had a pretty big impact on how I look at things. A co-worker described me as convoluted but with firm conviction, I pointed out that those are two mutually exclusive concepts but he remonstrated and I saw his point. I hold firm convictions but usually have a varied enough way of explaining said convictions from multiple angles so as to obviate many potential arguments that might arise. Not that I'm adverse to partaking in a good political or philosophical debate.

I try to be out of the house most of the time. Granted, I might just be having a few beers at the bar down the street or I might be exploring a forgotten site of urban decay, either way, it's not going to be dull.

I do my very best to play soccer at least once a week and usually try and get a pickup game going whenever I can. I'm regularly disillusioned seeing as when I was a youngster I was a decent player, now I sort of meander around hoping the ball might magically find it's way to me. This strategy isn't always a great success.

I live right down the street from Forest Park so I spend a lot of time there, more often than not I'll just chill out by the fountains and read a book or take a stroll. I've been around some of the supposed 'best parks' in the world, but I really think that we're extremely lucky to have such a great network of parks here. Forest Park is hands down one of the best designed and aesthetically pleasing parks I've ever wandered through.

I'm big on traveling. I just got back from wandering around Italy and the Balkans. The way I see things, I may not have the nicest things in the world, but I'd much rather have the best experiences I can possibly have. I'd rather be an interesting fellow with plenty of good stories that may have to plead poverty occasionally than a well off sort that bores everybody half to death describing the fancy features on whatever new gadget he's showing off.

I go to a lot of live shows, I tend to not go to big shows simply because I'm usually working on them in one capacity or another so it's more fun to be paid to watch the show from backstage, I will however go to a lot of smaller shows in local venues. For my money that's the best show you're going to see anyway, a bunch of folks who really want to be there and really want to play instead of some washed old has-been touring because they can charge $200 a ticket.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I do concert lighting and video. Yeah, I'm in show business...

Where am I going from here? I'd like to continue down the path I'm on right now career wise. It might not have the prestige value of being a lawyer or a doctor or something along those lines, but how many people can honestly say they enjoy going to work every day? Not many accountants bump in to rock stars at work.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Having Fun. But besides that, I've been trying to improve my cooking, I'm not so great at following a recipe, not necessarily because it's difficult, but because I like to improvise and I'm not always the best at planning on my culinary efforts. This has led to a couple of disasters that required an enormous amount of ketchup to become edible, but it has also led to some fantastic surprises.

I want to try and put one of my ridiculous ideas down as a movie idea or something along those lines. I don't think my prose leap off the page and I'm certainly not the most grammatically capable person I've ever met but sometimes I have amusing observations and people seem to get a kick out of what I have to say. For quite a while I wrote for a baseball publication, unfortunately it no longer exists but my ever continuing efforts to write the mediocre American novel are bearing fruit.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not particularly quiet. I don't mean to say that I stand around shooting my mouth off, just that I'm quite opinionated and am more than happy to have a vociferous exchange of ideas with anybody willing to stand still for more than two minutes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

This is one of those questions that's almost impossible to answer without falling in to the trap of writing a long list detailing what you do and don't like. The fact is there are so many literary, artistic (be it in the form of cinema, music, performance etc) and culinary creations that I've never been exposed to it's not easy to just make a blanket statement saying what you do and do not like. I shall however make an effort.

I'm not really one for 'classic literature'. That being said I am perfectly capable of sitting down with a real book (by which I mean something that probably isn't sold at a highway rest stop). I enjoy Stephen Clarke, Philip Roth, Bill Bryson, Tim Moore and Nick Hornby. I believe I own almost everything PJ O'Rourke and John O'Farrrell have ever written.

Rocky has to be my favorite movie of all time but I can watch most anything and find something to like, obviously any John Carpenter film. If you're not down to watch Escape From New York or Big Trouble In Little China it's probably time to move on.

I watch TV sporadically. There are plenty of shows I enjoy but I tend to DVR them over the course of a season and then spend an entire day watching from the first episode to the last. I own every episode of Red Dwarf and Arrested Development.

My musical tastes are somewhat varied. I'm afraid I don't really dig the whole mellow, laid back indie kick that a lot of people seem to enjoy. That's fine for them but I like something more up-tempo. I think it's easier for me to say what I dislike. Really if it's made on a computer with lots of thuds and 'beats' as it were, I'm probably not going to be interested. Also if your main lyrical themes deal with tractors or your devotion to your truck I'm probably going to change the dial.

I am a sandwich connoisseur. It has actually been suggested to me that I write the definitive guide to St. Louis deli sandwiches. When I'm not feasting on one of the fantastic deli creations we're so lucky to have here in town I love to try out a new pizza place, I also have an enormous affinity for curry, growing up in the U.K you're pretty much force fed curry and room temperature beer.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Baseball, Ice Cold Beers, Soccer, V8's, Google and good work boots.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where to go from here, if I'm doing things I ought to be doing, why I do certain things and don't do other things. Nothing particularly earth shattering or life affirming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either working on a show or out with my pals.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was supposed to go to a four year college out of state. At the last minute I decided that it really wasn't something I wanted to do at that point in time so I got off the plane at my connecting airport, walked out, got in a cab, found an apartment and lived there for a while.
