My self-summary
I'd like to preface my profile by saying that the way to my heart is good food and laughter, so if you have those, congrats! You're an amazing person in my book already! Also, I just moved back to the Denver area after a year in Germany, so I'm still getting settled in.

My number one talent is gift-giving. I am the best at giving gifts ever. I tend to hand-make and/or customize a lot of gifts. Literally everything you say will be logged into my brain in case I will be giving you a gift. People often tell me that my gifts to them leave them speechless--and that's kinda why I love giving gifts.

I just received my Master's as a German graduate student from the University of Colorado in Boulder. My undergrad was in Russian and German. So, I love to study, but I also love to have fun (especially on the weekends). I like cooking, and I do cook almost every day.

My pets and my family are very important to me, and I love animals to death, so if you have a pet... all the better! Meeting new people and socializing are two things that I enjoy very much, but I also like some alone time to gather my thoughts and sit down with a good book.

Also, I have tattoos: a 3/4 sleeve, a back piece, a dinosaur on my thigh, a large piece on my calf, and anothed under my chest. Just in case any of you read this, and you find girls with tattoos a turn-off.
What I’m doing with my life
I just finished college and hoping to become a professor. This year, however, I am taking time off to earn money before starting my PhD... somewhere. I studied for a year at Charles University in Prague and also spent a year in Göttingen, Germany. My MA from Boulder was focused on paganism and gender in literature and culture in Medieval Germany and Scandinavia.

I was also the vice president of a secular and skeptical group in Colorado, so logic and reasoning are very important to me. If you are religious, this doesn't mean that I have a problem with you--I actually find religion really interesting and have close religious friends. I won't try to deconvert you and I won't judge you (within reason--I'm looking at you, Christian Scientists). So, if you don't have a problem with me being an active atheist, then please don't let this deter you!
I’m really good at
Foreign languages, cooking, baking, video games, finding new and adventurous things to do.
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I'm mature for my age, but at the same time I have a childish personality. It's a strange mix of childish wonder about the world and a more grown-up outlook.

Also, I'm pretty clumsy. And I know most people say this, but I am so clumsy that Social Services would not release me from the E.R. for a while as a child because they didn't think any child could injure themselves as often as I do. My parents were absolutely thrilled with me after that. (Don't worry, they really were just accidents, my parents were at the same place as me for only one of the instances.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm currently very much into Russian literature, including We, by Yevgeny Zamyatin. I also love all books by Neil Gaiman (especially American Gods). I'm a sucker for beautiful writing, so Lolita is one of my favorite books, even if it is rather screwed up.

Movies: I don't watch too many movies, but I love corny horror/sci-fi movies (Evil Dead, Death Race 2000, etc.) Actual horror movies give me insomnia, since I'm kind of a wimp, but I watch them anyways. I also love cartoon movies, such as Mulan and Up. I secretly love chick flicks, but I rarely watch them, because I have no idea what good ones to watch are, and part of me really doesn't want to admit to myself that I like them. I am slowly making my way through a list of movies that I want to watch, so... suggest movies for me to watch, please!

Music: Anything that will make me dance is good in my book. I like techno (Pendulum, for example), rock (The White Stripes, Cage the Elephant), hip-hop (Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent), and classical (Chopin, Schubert). I go through phases for a year or so. Right now, I'd say my music tastes are leaning towards punk (Agent Orange, Zombina and the Skeletones, etc.) and heavy metal (Municipal Waste, Shadows Fall, Nile, ...), also a lot of Amanda Palmer.

Food: I love things with a lot of flavor! I will put hot sauce on anything, and sushi is probably my favorite food of all time. Curry, okonomiyaki, soups in general, and pasta are probably my favorite dishes to make. Anything foreign or exotic is awesome and I love to try new cuisines, so let me know if you have any suggestions!

Games: I guess I should include these here, too. I'm currently playing through Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Bioshock (I know, I'm late to the game). I'm also replaying Spyro: YotD for nostalgia's
sake. My favorite games have been Half Life 2, Mass Effect, Portal, Skyrim, The Secret World (also currently on this one), Fallout 3 (working my way back to NV), and Katamari Damacy. I also play tabletop games like D&D and Shadowrun. I will be joining my old group in their campaign in the coming month, which I'm really excited about! As for board games, I've been playing Munchkin, Shadows over Camelot, Battle Wizards, and Last Night on Earth.
The six things I could never do without
my Russian-English dictionary, pets, sushi, me-time, my laptop, and my video games.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whether or not my decision to study Russian makes me an intellectual masochist.
On a typical Friday night I am
with friends either out and having fun or inside watching movies, playing games, and drinking.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
How about a fun fact instead? I was an illegal immigrant in Germany for 3 days.
You should message me if
you're interested and are an interesting person yourself! Also, "online" is a relative term with my computer, since I tend to leave it running all the time, so if it says I'm online, but I'm "ignoring" your message, there's a good chance I'm not actually there at all. Also, please don't "Wink" at me! Start a conversation, it's a lot more interesting. :)
