I am Exuberant, Musical, and Giddy.
My Self-Summary
I am a
performer. Nothing is more thrilling
than the feeling you get in front of an
audience. I love to perform. I am my
most comfortable and natural when I am performing music in front of
any number of people. Underneath this music dork exterior is a kind
and sensitive music dork.
I think the only that comes close to my love of performing is my
love of teaching. It can be frustrating at times. However, I can't
even describe how rewarding it is to see my students make some of
the same musical revelations I had to make in my career.

What I’m doing with my life
I received my undergraduate degree in music performance from Ithaca
College. For those of you wondering; yes, that is the college from
the movie Road Trip. I have since been teaching little high school
kids how to hit things. While I have soooooo much fun doing that,
it doesn't quite pay the bills. I am also a private party
bartender. Hopefully I
will find a full time bartending job sometime soon.
I’m really good at
Hitting things aka
Percussion.
Bartending.
Listening.
Being on time to things. (I guess that is really a part of the
whole percussion thing).
What am I really NOT good at?
Putting my life into words. Ask me anything, I'm an open book :D
The first things people usually notice about me
My height.
I was at a marching band competition last weekend. After we
performed, I walked around with the other band directors. A little
band girl from a different school ran up to me and said, "OMG!!! I
just LOVE your facial hair."
Long story short......... My facial hair?
My
incredibly ripped ............
hands............ from being a percussionist....... :\
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Anything Tolkien. The Count of Monte Cristo. The Kite
Runner. Darktown Strutters. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Timeline.
Movies: I love to watch movies. It is hard for me to pick a
favorite because I watch so many. Not the biggest fan of the
harcore horror movies.
Music: Alas. Words cannot describe what music means to me. I am
open to anything and everything. You should tell me what your
favorite music is so I can go out and listen to it.
For those of you familiar with classical music...... my favorite
composers are definitely the Russian romantics. AKA Tchaikovsky,
Rimsky-Korsakov, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and Dvorak
(he is actually Czech but oh well). If I am in a German mood, you
can never go wrong with the three B's. Bach, Beethoven, and
Brahms.
If there is still anyone out there that wasn't scared off by that
last paragraph, here are some "real" bands that I like. Styx,
Queen, Boston, Kansas, Journey, Aerosmith, etc. I absolutely adore
the music of Tim Minchin. He is a musical comedian that I highly
recommend to anyone who has never heard of him. (I also have a
little bit of a secret love for Imogen Heap's music).
I love to discover new music. If there is a band missing from my
list that you feel I need to listen to, please let me know. It will
become the only thing I listen to for the next several weeks.
Food: I try to be healthy.......... sometimes ........ but I like
the unhealthy foods. Oops!
The six things I could never do without
1. Music
2. Family (even when they are disfunctional)
3. A Car
4. The actual essentials. (food, water, shelter, etc.)
5. Having the bestest of friends.
6. Can I say music again? Please?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why am I here right now and not hitting my snare drum?
Do any parents actually pay for their children's lessons on
time?
When am I going to find her?
How can Peyton Manning be so good?
Will my hard work ever pay off?
What is HIS plan for me?
On a typical Friday night I am
When there is a home football game, I have to work with the
marching band. We perform at half time. We have gotten better with
each passing week; so our staff must be doing something right.
:)
When there is not a home football game, I try to make plans with
friends so that I am not at home being lame. My boss plays in an
80s cover band that I like to go watch.
(They asked me to be their keyboard player. I don't know how I feel
about that. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? I was around for
the 80s, but honestly don't remember much about them.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a little bit of a fear of dancing. If there is anyone out
there that would like to teach me how to dance, I would gladly
accept any help.
You should message me if
you are not here to play games with people's feelings.
