My self-summary
Being a stickier about precise language I would have to say that to describe myself as a "nerd" is about as precise as using a morning star to do brain surgery. I would posit that it would be far more accurate to call me a "dork"; you know "...all the social skills of a "geek" with none of those pesky computer skills" As my sister so diplomatically puts it I am "socially awkward". Though that really overstates it. While I am occasionally (OK frequently) at a loss as to the right thing to say in a social situation and I am not comfortable approaching someone I don't know and striking up a conversation, I am not unduly distressed or anxious in social situations and will talk if engaged in conversation. Much more comfortable in one on one situations. I suppose that the part of the problem is that I am not good at small talk and am uncomfortable talking about myself wand I am generally not boisterous with people I don't know; though once I get comfortable with people or a situation I can become downright gregarious. I am not a prude or overly concerned with social convention, though that is the impression I give off at times. My sense of Humor is at turns, dry, wry, and at times ribald.
In general I have a positive outlook on life and am happy with where I am at in this crazy mixed up world.
I like to read pretty much anything; I read non-fiction to stay informed and fiction for entertainment. I was concerned that it seemed as though I haven't read many books over the past year, until I realized that I read a lot of political/ news commentary, whether online or magazines, which accounts for quite a bit lines of copy that I've read over the year. I love alliteration, in fact one of my all time favorite movie scenes is in the movie "V for vendetta" when V does his monologue before saving evie "...Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose". I doubt that it is a good idea to actually put this in writing, but also do adore puns, especially if they are clever.
If you understand TANSTAAFL, then you understand my views on life.
