My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Oh, hello there! It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm originally from a small coastal community called Redondo Beach in Southern California, but moved up to the Bay Area for college about 15 years ago and simply fell in love with this place. I did, however, spend a few years living abroad in Tokyo for my job, but came back to CA in 2008 for business school. I now live in the Laurel Heights section of town where the streets are wider and the pets are friendlier. Just kidding.

I grew up in a multicultural household and feel very fortunate for this experience, perhaps more so as I've grown older. My Dad's side of the family has been in the U.S. for 4+ generations and his family is originally from Utah; whereas, my Mom is from Southern Japan.

In terms of personality, I think people notice my "roll-up-your-sleeves," positive attitude, and maybe my earnest personality and imaginative humor. I'm definitely more of the Colbert-crazy humor versus the dark, dry humor. And I do impersonations of both famous people and friends, who are still my friends despite my impersonations of them. Finally, grandmothers really like me because I'm Obama-like polite. In fact, I'm quick to say "sorry" to poles and walls I bump into, or people I bump into at Target even if it wasn't my fault.

I also root for the underdog. Literally. If you Google "underdog," then click on images, you'll see what I mean. I also like to make people feel welcomed especially when they are new in town or don't know too many people. And so, I organize events for them. This explains why I am the master of organizing events using Evite. Yes, I still use Evite.

In terms of what I'm looking for, I'm looking for a really kind and sweet person. Someone who is energetic, athletic, artistic, fun, funny, humble, mature, responsible, inquisitive, quirky, a bit of an old soul, has a cheerful disposition, celebrates diversity, loves kids, has thoughtful opinions, and has a natural curiosity to get to know all kinds of people and cultures.

Basically, a tennis-playing, librarian from Canada, Wisconsin, or Minnesota with a credit score of 720 or higher and likes cheesy jokes. Just kidding.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work for a large, international sustainability / corporate responsibility / human rights nonprofit in the SF downtown area, though our work takes us to many places around the world so there's never a dull moment.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at cleaning things, whether its my apartment, dishes, or my golf clubs. I'll wash your car for free. Just kidding. But seriously, I might. But not for free. Maybe for some Skittles.

I'm also good at planning trips, saying "thank you" to people, cooking "sukiyaki" (, and doing my taxes, which means I'm a responsible dude and good at math.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My rock hard knee and curvaceous ears. Or perhaps, my inner soul through the reflection of my eyes. It's a toss up.

Movies/TV: Meet Joe Black, Cider House Rules, Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Schindler's List, Rudy, Glory, LOTR, Forrest Gump, Snow Falling on Cedars, Serendipity, Love Actually, American President, Old School, Zoolander, One Day, A Beautiful Mind, Hurricane, A Few Good Men, The Butler, Midnight's Children, The Kite Runner, Colbert, Meet the Press, The West Wing.

Activities: Basketball, tennis, golf, soccer, hiking, camping, traveling, skiing, watching films, singing, acting, and playing music. I like to paint and draw, too. And make beautiful PowerPoints and Excel spreadsheets.

Music: The Eagles--there's nothing like dancing with your eyes closed to the Hotel California outro riff with a few cocktails in your system; Jesse's Girl because my name is Jesse; and film scores, by a mile.

Humans: Bill Nye, the Science Guy; and his friend, Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Friends/family/health
2) My glasses/contacts
3) A solid bed
4) A solid beer (with friends)
5) Sandwiches
6) My West Wing DVDs (I might be the biggest fan, or at least the guy who has seen The West Wing the most in SF! Really! What we need is a West Wing Pub Quiz!!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Rooting for my beloved Cal Bears even though they always seem to get the short end of the stick (and not just in terms of sports, but also in terms of funding for public education!); and figuring out ways to make the world more "just" and "sustainable."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Making jokes using my fingers and grabbing a drink or bite to eat at a fun restaurant, hosting group dinners (burrito-making nights are the best!), or organizing a gathering of friends somewhere in the city.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My ears get really cold at night. Also, I sometimes wear vests to work, which I realize makes me look like an old man (or a wise man), but I wear them basically so that I don't have to iron my shirts. Please don't tell my coworkers I wear wrinkled shirts to work. Shh...
