I am a small, long-haired particle physicist. I live in small flat, which has been described by others, unfairly I think, as a dark, depressing hole. I sometimes do things. These things include juggling and contact juggling, though I am not espeically good at either. I drink a lot of tea. I like ales, especially if they have silly names. I quite like darkly glamourous gothic things, although I am equally happy with rather less glamourous, hairy folk music type things. My best friend persuaded me to join, because she fears that I'm turning into a recluse. She is almost certainly correct.

I have just finished a PhD in particle physics (well, nearly finished. Don't ask). Not sure what the next step will be.

Well, I am quite good at physics. I'm probably too good at procrastonating. I am certinaly not very good at filling out online questionaries such as this one.

My hair. It is long and big and curly. I have not had it cut since the summer of 2001.

My favourite books are Titus Groan and Gormenghast. Last time I read them they made me sad that the world I lived in was not as wonderous as the one described in them. And then once I had finsihed them, I felt sad that I was no longer reading them. I am also very fond of the Moomin books. I'm quite interested in philosophy, and have read a few bits of Plato and Russell although not as much as I'd like to. I very much like Oscar Wilde, and have read most of his works. I have vague ambitions of being a comic book geek, but haven't read nearly enough comics to qualify. Some that I have really enjoyed are: Sandman, Watchmen, Maus and Persepolis.

I am a big fan of Bauhaus, Tom Waits, The Cure, Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer and Lady Winwoods Maggot.

I am mildy obsessed with the idea that there are a disproportionate number of people called Brian in the world of rock music. My favourite Rock Brian is Brian Viglione, although there are obviously a number of other very good ones.

I'm sort of a big a sci-fi geek, and my favourite film is The Empire Stirkes Back. Recently though, I fear my geekiness has diminished. I hope to rectify this.

Tea. Uhm, I can't really think of anything else, so I'll just say six cups of tea.

All sorts of stuff really. What I'm going to do with my life, the past, my friends, physics, random bits of philosophy. Other bits 'n' bobs.

In all honesty, I am not sure. I quite often go to a pub with friends, although once I sat at home, alone, drinking and watching the Pink Elephants scene from Dumbo on repeat for about 3 hours. I hope to stick more to the pub in future.

I used to be mistaken for a women quite often, and I'm now a little bit sad it no longer happens very much.
