I am happy, quirky, and thoughtful.

My Self-Summary

Hello! I am an Australian who has been up in Beijing for the past year, working and exploring this very interesting country! I enjoy the expat life and the whole nature of travelling, it really does help me broaden my horizons and see things from an entirely new perspective!

I am a bit quirky by nature, and enjoy challenging myself through trying new things. I enjoy a mix of everything, the noise and bustle of the frantic pace of Beijing is wonderful, but you can't really beat bike riding through the hutongs late at night.

What I’m doing with my life

My life is a really nice mix of the serious and the not so serious! I work full-time and am also trying to be a good Chinese student, but also enjoy packing different activities into my life as much as possible. These include weekend trips away, improv, eating out, ten pin bowling and juggling.

I’m really good at

I am really good at juggling (mis-spent youth), pursuing my interests and dealing with logical problems. This does not necessarily extend to navigating while in a car.

The first things people usually notice about me

It all starts with a nice friendly smile. :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I must admit I really enjoyed the Harry Potter series! My reading tastes now are mixed, some crime, some Pratchett, some philosophy, some travel books to decide where next to go!

I love movies that are either nicely silly (like Amelie) or ones that make you think. Nothing too over the top though!

My music taste ranges from the normal pop, rock to the crazy and silliness of the Eurovision Song Contest!

I really enjoy the local jiaozi, but that said I can't go past anything with a high bread content. I spend most of my Beijing days craving Lebanese bread and dips!

The six things I could never do without

My Mandarin translation book (life saver!), some light hearted music to listen to, a sense of humour, a silly quirky idea, my bike and a lifetime supply of jiaozi!

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I am fascinated by the way people work, and how our minds are set up. Living in Beijing gives such an opportunity to see the take different cultures have on life and it is really cool.

On a typical Friday night I am

Sometimes out at dinner, sometimes at a bar, sometimes at the movies.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hehehehe why read it here when you can talk to me in person?

You should message me if

You should message me if you are/like a bit of quirkyness and would enjoy hanging out and having fun in random ways! :)
