My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was born and raised just outside of Miami, and have been living in Atlanta for six years.

Music has always been a large part of my life. I grew up in a family full of musicians and have played one instrument or another for most of my life. In my free time I try to go to as many shows as I can and I’m always looking for new bands to check out or friends to play with.

I pretty much always have my nose in a book - I especially love fantasy, but I throw in something else every so often. American Psycho was definitely a real change of pace...

I’m a huge animal lover and volunteered at a Doberman Rescue league for a year before college.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I’m working full time on getting my master's in Electromagnetics. I'll be finishing that up in December and moving on to the working world. I’ve got a job at a research lab on campus where I get to work with some pretty cool technology. Recently I've been learning to draw. Nothing all that presentable, but I've been a fan of art long enough I figured I should try it out.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Apparently, "playing with the unseen forces of the universe." People usually glaze over when I mention what I do for a living, but that's easily been the best reaction.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have long hair, piercings, and frequently wear band shirts. Yeah, I stand out a bit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love long series that allow you to immerse yourself in the world. My favorites are The Dark Tower, everything from Brandon Sanderson, Sandman, The Kingkiller Chronicles, Dresden Files, and ASOIAF. I recently started Malazan Book of the Fallen.

I’ve got a soft spot for 80s movies. Anything from Terminator to Breakfast Club. I’m not a huge fan of horror movies, but I’ll watch one every now and again. Ghostbusters, Die Hard, Taken, Pan's Labyrinth, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, and Hot Fuzz are all fantastic.

There's typically only one or two things I'm ever interested in watching at any particular time but I just finished up a string of fucking fantastic shows: Fargo, True Detective, and The Newsroom. Before that I'd been watching House of Cards, Sherlock, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones, and Silicon Valley.

Usually I’m listening to either classic rock or metal bands. Some of my favorites are Rush, Iced Earth, Zeppelin, Eluveitie, Testament, Sabaton, Dark Tranquillity, and Blind Guardian. I can also get into 80s kicks from time to time. The Top Gun soundtrack is gold. Everyone needs more synth. I also like some musicals like Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, and Sweeney Todd.

I'm pretty open to trying new food. Random restaurants down Buford Highway are great. Pubs are usually pretty solid as long as they're not so crowded and loud that you can't talk to anyone. I go out to spend time with friends, so trying to talk over the next table's yelling over some sports game on TV is really unappealing. Young Augustine's, The Highlander, The Porter, and Bookhouse are all fun.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Pets are a big thing for me. I grew up surrounded by animals and it's been really strange not having them around. I have a parrot and I'd like to get a dog or a cat down the road. I don't think my lifestyle could responsibly support more than that right now.

Coffee. I grew up drinking coffee. I'm hispanic: it's what we do.

Physical books. I have no problems with the existence of e-readers or audio books, but I don't think I'll ever get myself using them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How things work. They don't even have to be real things. A friend once suggested that time travel was infeasible because if you were to travel through time, you'd end up in some empty part of space since the Earth would have drifted along to some other part of it's trek around the Sun. We then talked about if gravity could keep your time travel bits nearby during the transition. It made no sense whatsoever.

I do wonder how a lot of actual real life things work as well. That's what drew me to science in the first place. That's not to suggest it's limited to scientific mechanisms. Foreign language construction is also pretty interesting.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Sometimes I'll spend a night reading a book or watching movies, but I get pretty restless if I do it too often. Other times I'll go out to a pub with friends or maybe a concert or museum. Occasionally, I'll grab people and just start driving. If people can't decide what to do, it's easy enough to just start driving until something interesting catches our eye. The aquarium and the zoo are a lot of fun too.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to go out and find more in Atlanta. You like the idea of spending a night debating which house will take the Iron Throne, or sharing in the agony that is waiting for The Doors of Stone to come out. You'd enjoy cranking up the Zeppelin and Maiden and pretending we live in a time gone by. Experimenting to find the best Mai Tai recipe exciting sounds like a laudable weekend task. You’ve been looking for someone to tag along with to try out that questionable looking restaurant down the street. In short, you want to have some fun, but you'd like the fun to progress to something a bit more meaningful.

I enjoy myself around all kinds of company. Mutual interests are great, but at the end of the day I'm looking for someone to be more than just an activity buddy.
