My self-summary Propose an edit
My self-summary... You know, we spend our entire lives trying to
figure out who we are, is this space really enough to do that quest
justice?
If you can't tell already, I'm a bit of an oddball. I look at the
world from a strange vantage point. I suppose you'd say that I love
to study human nature; more of a philosopher than anything else,
really.
I love new experiences, for the most part. I tend to deal with the
world on my own terms, but end up having some wild times. I've
taught overseas for two years, hitchhiked through northern Japan,
had a drink with pro wrestlers, subtitled Japanese animation, and
worked in quite a few fields before I found that teaching was the
right fit. My true passion lies in cooking and writing
though.
Though I tend to act a bit differently from time to time, anyone
who's near to me knows that I don't try to be anything that I'm
not. I simply am who I am. Of course, this happens to mean that I'm
incredibly geeky, a bit bookwormish, and a hopeless dreamer with a
twisted sense of humor.
In fact, I'd probably describe my humor as what would happen when
South Park, Family Guy and Monty Python all fused into a single
sense of humor. In fact, many times I vault over the line of good
taste without realizing it. It still gets laughs, mind you, but it
does make for some awkward pauses at times.
I've never been married and I have no children. I've never really
met anyone who's quirks really fit in with mine. And isn't that the
entire point of dating? You try to find the person who's insanity
matches and fits in with your own. I just haven't met that woman
yet.
And no matter what this may say, I'm not Republican. I'm not a
Democrat either. I just believe on voting in whoever will do the
job the best, regardless of party.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm writing a novel right now, in addition to doing some teaching
work. I enjoy teaching, but writing is more my style than anything
else.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm proficient at a lot of things, but as for really good at
something? I'd probably say that my best skill lies in cooking. I
enjoy it a lot, but usually only when I have people to cook for.
Cooking for myself isn't much fun, unless I'm experimenting with a
new recipe that I've come up with.
I've also been told that I'm good at writing. I once had a
professor tell me that I should keep all of my columns that I'd
write for her journalism class and put them all out as a book of
funny columns someday.
I'm also good at just being me.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
More than likely, whatever facial hair I'm sporting that day. Or
maybe it's my eyes. I used to get told that I could win Best Eyes
in Indiana. Depending on my mood, it could even my my goofy grin.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Books.. I love a good book. Just as long as it's a good book, I'll
read it. My favorite authors would have to be Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher, Douglas Adams,
Brian Lumley
and Frank
Peretti. I read tons of books.
Movies... I collect movies and I love watching them, good or bad.
As for my favorite movies, I'd probably say that The Seven Samurai,
One Crazy
Summer, They
Live, Evil
Dead 2 and Clerks II all rank high up there. And
for a wonderfully bad movie that doesn't even take itself
seriously? Cheerleader Ninjas.
Music... I listen to music when I get up in the morning, when I go
out walking, and when I drive. Very rarely do I listen to music
outside of those times. But my tastes tend to vary, from Reel Big Fish to
Bon Jovi to
Frickin' A to
Operation
Ivy to The
Ramones to Flatfoot 56 to NOFX to Audio Adrenaline. Quite
eclectic.
Foods... I love to cook, and I love to eat. So long as it
isn't cooked fish, I'll eat it. Favorite food would have to be a
good homemade chicken and noodles.
And my favorite comedic duo? Puke N' Snot, two comedians that
came up from nothing, and brought it with them.
And I'll go ahead and give you my all-time favorite quote too;
"Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal and a good woman - or a bad
woman. It depends on how much happiness you can handle." - George
Burns
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
I'm going to go ahead and assume that family, food and water are
givens on this.
Friends, books, time to myself, my DS or PSP (for gaming on the
go!), my recliners and a decent pillow.
What can I say? I'm easily pleased. And easily amused.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Usually, just whatever pops into my mind. I've been known to
suddenly drop everything and start researching something just
because it interests me at the time. Topics have been known to
include (but haven't been limited to): chemistry, cold fusion,
video games, script ideas, history of chili, theories on time and
space, and so on.
I also get into silly moods and begin thinking about some oddball
things. As I lived in a village that reprocessed nuclear fuel (and
was in the running for an experimental nuclear fusion reactor), I
firmly expect my superpowers to kick in any day now.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about my novel. It's constantly
trying to work itself out in my mind.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
I've been in Indy again for two years, so I suppose it's time to
change this from including time in Japan.
So, what do I do on a typical Friday night? Well, once or twice a
month, I go see friends in Muncie. There's usually a theme
involved, and we all dress up to meet the theme. One night was
pirate night, where we all dressed in pirate garb and went out
singing. Recently, we've been doing quite a few pitch-in meals as
well and playing SingStar on the PS2.
If I'm not up in Muncie on a Friday, you'll either find me playing
video games, reading a book, or working on writing my novel.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
The women that I go crazy over the most on television aren't always
the ones that everyone else goes crazy about. The more intelligent
a woman is on TV, the more I usually end up being attracted to her.
Abby on NCIS gets me every time with her nerd talk, and Garcia on
Criminal Minds does the same with the tech talk.
To see the looks on the faces of my parents when I told them that I
had a thing for Abby on NCIS... That was classic.
I suppose that isn't too private. Then again, I can't really think
of anything private that I'm not up front with.
You should message me if Propose an edit
You feel like having a good chuckle. Or if you just want to talk.
Or if *hypnotic eyes* you will message me... you will message me...
*cough* Now, where was I?
Also, if you spontaniously start hummming or singing the theme to
any of the Katamari Damashii (Katamari Damacy in English) games,
you should message me. If you read a lot of books, you should
message me. If you just have an awesome personality with a great
sense of humor, you should message me. If you embody all of the
above, why have you not messaged me yet? Did you NOT see the
hypnotic eyes?
And I'm always happy to have a good conversation with someone, so
feel free to drop me a line!
