My self-summary Propose an edit

I just bought my 12 year-old sister her first Black Sabbath album (Paranoid). I have also required that she learn the lyrics to "Iron Man," and not because of the movie, thank-you-very-much.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Although I am taking a little bit of time to enjoy and appreciate where I am now, I've got something in the works. But shh! I'm not telling what it is until I've pretty much got everything in line. It might not be for a little while, but I've got my mind set on what I'm working towards.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Painting my own nails, staredowns, putting off filling in the rest of my profile till I have more time and am not at work...

...I'd also like to add procrastination.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I guess the first thing would be my mouth = the smile and the words that come out of it. And then sometimes it's the legs.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

I have a hard time choosing favorites...

The last book that I read and truly enjoyed was "The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao" by Junot Diaz. And I'm getting ready to dive into "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov. The Brothers Grimm Fairytales are always good. Ever read them? They're a lot more disturbing than the watered-down versions that make it to the mainstream. I'm also delighted by my monthly arrival of National Geographic and the occassional issue of Scientific American = yes, a bit nerdy.

Movies. I love to watch movies; especially thrillers, drama, Scorsese, early DeNiro, On the Waterfront, and so on. Luckily for me, one of my roommates was a film major in college, so he's got a great collection that I get to peruse and appreciate. I also don't have a DVD player. I know, it's the twenty-first century, but I still own one of those tvs with a built-in vhs player. But I love it thanks to Amoeba where I recently scored Wayne's World and Lawrence of Arabia on the super cheap. Yet nothing will ever top the beauty that was Naked Eye in the lower haight...

Music. Like so many others, I did college radio. Had my own lovely little rock show on the fm dial in Boston and have often been complimented on my musical selections; but I don't know, I just play what I like. I think I may have the smallest possible music collection for a former radio dj, being that many items have been pilfered throughout the years. And I've never been the type to remember band members, song titles, and even band names off hand; but I go with what feels good at the moment, and it's always worked out. The only guarantee was a Suicide song every time I had a set. I also grew up listening to hip hop, rap, motown, etc. At the moment, I've got Orlando Julius playing, the last CD I bought was either Eek-A-Mouse or Vincente Fernandez, and the only music magazine I have a subscription to is waxpoetics. And to dance to? It's gotta have bass and a beat. I have a hard time resisting an invite to a good reggae or hip hop night, and anyone who goes with me has to be able to dance to it. None of this, "Oh, yeah, I can dance," and then it's a completely different story once the toes touch the dancefloor. And the sweatier the better. P.S. I love merengue.

Food. I'm a decent cook. Made a great lasagna the other day. And meat, I have to be honest, I really do love meat. I like my steak and burgers rare, to the point where I wonder if it's going to moo when I bite into it. I know that that's going to gross a lot of people out, but might as well do it now before it's discovered later. But where I really shine is baking. And everything is from scratch. After getting home from work a couple of nights ago, I had the urge to bake so I made a nectarine-raspberry crisp with fresh fruits (served with vegan coconut vanilla ice cream); followed by oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with walnuts and coconut. I've developed a sweet tooth over the last year, which is odd because I've always tended to be more of a salty/savory type person, but I have always loved to bake. Even as a kid in grade school I used to bake cookies all of the time, and because I didn't like to eat them and had to be able to pay for all of my ingredients, I sold my baked goods to my classmates. It worked out really well. And now I dish out the fruits of my labors to friends, roommates, and coworkers. Ooh, I also make some tasty enchiladas and guacamole. Yum!

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Secret plans for life, projects to finish and projects to start, why I'm clumsy.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I really like to have my socks and shoes taken off for me.

I don't have a foot fetish and I'm not really looking for anyone to suck on my toes or anything like that. But I really find it to be ecstasy when someone takes my foot in their hand, unlaces my shoe, and slips it off. It doesn't have to be sexual or take a long time, but it also shouldn't be rushed through. Ooh, and then my sock. I love it when it's either pulled off from the toe of the sock, or peeled down to where the sock slips inside out at the end. And if it's done well, oh what anticipation has built up for my other foot!

Hmm. After thinking about it, I'm realizing that this is something that feels a lot more private than I had originally judged.
