My self-summary
I'm originally from NJ but have somehow been transplanted to the East Bay. I miss the seasons. I'm a father to two fantastically wonderful, adorable, and amazing boys who mastered the ability to both drive me batcrap crazy and make me smile and laugh like nothing else.

My boys take up almost all of my time, and while I'm not looking for a relationship that's long-term love, I'm definitely looking for and needing some friends, either just for texting, talking, or getting some adult time (no, this does not mean sex - not that I'm opposed to sex - but just time where I can talk with and do grown up things instead of playing cars or watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or cleaning up Cheerios - not that those things aren't fun).

I'd love to find someone I can talk and be myself with, go to a movie, eat out, grab a bite and beer or Sapphire & Tonic, play some pool or darts, go for a hike, see a museum or gallery or game, find a nice coffeeshop or cigar bar or wine bar or sushi bar, just about anything. I'm always ready to learn new things and find new experiences and get something new out of life.

A little more about me: I'm kind of a geek, I can be sarcastic and funny (I think I am, at least), I like trivia and games, I like driving, I like cooking and doing dishes, holding hands and PDAs, figuring out how things work, watching sports (NY Giants, NJ Devils), and staying up late.
What I’m doing with my life
The most important thing to me right now is raising my two boys. I'd love to do all sorts of things in between (see things, places, people, and get some real world life experiences).
I’m really good at
Listening, empathizing, lightening the mood, and giving out random info. I'm not really sure what all that means, but the random knowledge comes in handy during Jeopardy and other quiz shows, and everything else could potentially qualify me to be a good friend. Or at least one who will always be there for you.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably one of a few things: my height, my eyes, or my accent (living in NJ for 27 years will do that). I like to think I have an easy smile, but smiling at the world can sometimes be difficult; you just need to remember to smile at the little things.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So many good things to choose from!

Books: Cryptonomicon, Snow Crash (really anything by Stephenson), The Dresden Files, Michael Chrichton books, older Stephen King and Dean Koonts books, The Raw Shark Texts, The Night Watch series, anything by Christopher Moore, The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear, anything by Matt Ruff, Plum Island and other DeMille books, anything by Joe Abercrombie, The Night Angel trilogy; just to name a few. I'm a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan, like horror books, and pseudo science novels.

Movies: Aliens, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, My Cousin Vinny, A Few Good Men, The Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, The Adjustment Bureau, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Zombieland, Inception, Se7en, and so many others. I love sci-fi movies, even the cheesy ones, and I like b-movies. I love movies in general, and am always willing to try out some new ones.

TV: Eureka, Psych, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, X-Files, Twin Peaks, How I Met Your Mother, The Wire, Rules of Engagement. I watch a few others, but am not big on reality tv or crime shows (though I do like Criminal Minds).

Music: Zeppelin, Hendrix, Floyd, The Who, Johnny Cash, George Strait, AC/DC, Sneaker Pimps, Dragonforce, The Rolling Stones, Portishead, Billy Joel, Beastie Boys, Steve Miller Band, Ednaswap. I like a lot of different things, including newer pop and rock, country, classic rock, old school rap, heavy metal, electronica, dance. My iPod has an extremely eclectic mix, or so I think. Music is good for the soul. My latest music craze is throaty female vocalists and female-led metal bands like In This Moment and Flyleaf.

My own category, games: Board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride; card games like Killer Bunnies and Munchkin and pinochle and Hearts.
The six things I could never do without
So many things we can/can't live without, just to choose six?
1 - My two boys.
2 - My coffee pot. I'd marry it, but the relationship's a bit one-sided.
3 - My phone. Communicate with the family and friends.
4 - Something to read. Always need a little something to keep me occupied.
5 - A hot shower.
6 - Clean underwear (seriously, underwear should always be clean).

My absolute favorite thing is my boys' laughter. Nothing will ever be better than that sound and the feeling I get when I hear it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My boys and teaching them all the things that are good in this world. I also think about food (who doesn't like to eat), the news, what to read, the answers to the crossword puzzle I'm working on, why my coffee maker doesn't come with an IV drip, how do my boys manage to cause so much mayhem, sex (honestly, who doesn't?), new movies coming out, why there hasn't been a movie made with Denzel, Michael Caine, Jean Reno, and Bruce Willis together, and why there are so many spiders in California.

Maybe this is cheesy, but I have to admit, if you've never once had a zombie apocalypse conversation, we probably wouldn't get along.
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends. Pre-bedtime for my sons, I'm usually building blocks and chasing them around. After bedtime, relaxing with some coffee, watching a movie or tv or reading a book or doing a crossword or playing a game (board, card). Kind of boring and home-y, but it's hard to get out, and I'm not big on clubs or bars.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like hugs and cuddling. I'm sentimental.
You should message me if
You're looking for someone to talk to any time, just need a friend, or looking for some pleasant conversation. Maybe eventually we could do some fun stuff (movies, hiking, pool, restaurants, cigar bars, wine tastings, sci-fi marathons).
