My Self-Summary
I've been told I'm very old for my age by some, and that I'm too immature by others. I'm sure whoever I meet here will make their own decision.
I love good discussions/debate. There's nothing like matching wits with someone who actually makes me think.
hmm... my past times include reading, watching my shows, cycling around town, watching my favorite series (see below). Oh, Once I'm back in shape (go figure, I actually got fat while in the service... no where to ride on a big steel can, and I HATE gyms) I'll be getting acquainted with getting my ass kicked. I just haven't figured out if I'm going to get into kenjutsu, or do something a bit more practical. Any advice on a good dojo/place of asskickery would be much appreciated.
As for the arts... unfortunately, I am ungifted in those areas. I can bang out a decent rhythm on the drums, but I can't sing or play any other instruments. My drawing level is stick figures, on a good day, and I only wish I had the eye to capture anything decent on film. That being said, I enjoy beautiful things, and I can always appreciate good art, whatever the medium.
I tend to lean to the left on most political issues (WAY to the left on many), though I am surprisingly conservative on some issues. Like I said above, I am always up for any kind of political/philosophical/current event discussions, as long as you are capable of intelligent, respectful debate.
hmm... my personality awards have changed. I can't say I like how they changed, either. Oh well. Does anyone really care about those things?
What I’m doing with my life
I’m really good at
And apparently I am pretty good at giving advice. Go figure.
Oh! And I'm not bad at debate
The first things people usually notice about me
"Hey, Tony, this is my friend, _____."
"How's it going, ____? Quick question; what was the first thing you noticed about me?"
Honestly, I'd say it's probably my height. I'm only 5'6", which, in this world of overly tall people, is considered a bit on the short side. Once they get to talking to me, what else they decide about me depends a great deal on how comfortable I am at the time. Sometimes, I will be very outgoing and funny (or at least attempt to be), and others, I'm the proverbial fly on the wall.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
movies... Waking Life or Paprika would be my favorite, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Amelie are up there as well. I don't watch too many movies, though.
Shows (yeah, yeah, not a subject. so what?) - The Brotherhood, Dexter, Weeds (I love shotime, can you tell?), House... That's about it. I'll occasionally watch a CSI/Law & Order, etc., for the hell of it, but I don't really spend too much time watching TV.
Music - Ani Difranco, Flobots, Flogging Molly, Lady Gaga, The Black Keys, Julie Fowlis, Deerhoof, Gabriel Ananda, Brad Paisley, Tori Amos, Disturbed, Era, Pelican, Ricardo Villalobos, Blackmore's Night, Pretty Balanced (now known as The Alphabet), Shakira, and just about any classic or southern rock band. I can find someone in just about any genre I like, though it's hard in the rap area. The lyrics in most those songs aren't things I want to pollute my ears with.
The six things I could never do without
friends, good books, music, beautiful things to look at (art, sunsets, etc), my laptop, and good food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

If you just want an online pen pal to toss ideas around with, I'm cool with that, though I prefer people that want to meet in person.
