I am funny, intelligent, and a hopeless romantic.

My Self-Summary

My name is William but you can call me Will if you'd prefer, I really don't care either way. As long as you don't call me Bill, we can be friends. I have a very unique sense of humor, mostly involving ridiculously corny jokes and puns that somehow get passed down genetically, but I enjoy a good laugh. I've been told I'm fun to be around. I value my friends and make a consistent effort to make sure that I am being the best friend that I can be. I've recently rediscovered that writing is something I really enjoy doing (unless of course its about myself, ie this profile). I really enjoy photography as well but haven't gotten out to take pictures recently. Mostly do a lot of architectural photography. I love seeing the elements of a building come together. Besides that I'd say I'm a pretty average guy. I have two eyes, two ears, a nose and mouth.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently at school at Concordia University Texas on the northwest side of Austin studying Communications and English in a Multidisciplinary Major. I'm not quite sure what I will be doing with that once I graduate but I'm hoping that I could either write for a technology blog or work in marketing.

I’m really good at

being humble. It seems odd that this section is only for things you are "really" good at. Their are plenty of things that I enjoy that I think I'm okay at but not many that I'm willing to admit being really good at.

I enjoy photography and have been taking pictures since I bought a Nikon D40 a few summers back. I'm very disappointed that I lost the majority of my pictures that I took to a hard drive crash however.

I also am a decent writer. I write reviews on Yelp (can I link my personal page here or will that get me in trouble) so I really like going to new restaurants and finding good food. I used to maintain a blog but not so much recently.

I will say that I am really good at fixing computers. I used to work at my university's computer helpdesk. It wasn't the most glamorous job but people need their computers.

making margaritas. Usually I only end up having one but everyone says they're great.

The first things people usually notice about me

I asked my friends what they notice and this is what they said:
My shirts (I supplement my personality with witty t-shirts, ironically I saw that on a t-shirt)
My hair (I dunno bout this one)
My height (although I think I'm pretty average there)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I haven't been able to read for leisure recently but I really enjoy Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
Through Painted Deserts - Donald Miller
The Importance of Being Ernest - Oscar Wilde

Movies: I enjoy all kinds of movies and I'll pretty much watch anything except for horror. My mom made sure that I watched old movies and so I love classics:
Casablanca, Father Goose, North by Northwest, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, It's a Wonderful Life (I usually end up crying), Operation Petticoat and my personal favorite: Arsenic and Old Lace.
Some newer ones I've really enjoyed:
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Gran Torino, Princess Bride, District 9, Frequently Asked Questions about Time Travel.

While it may not be a movie its not exactly a TV show either but Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is amazing!

Music: I have waaaayyyy to much music on my computer and really there is not a central genre that I stick with but instrumental, alternative, and electronic seem to be some of my most common.
Some favorite artists: Explosions in the Sky, Ghostland Observatory, We Are Scientists, MGMT, Phoenix, Death Cab for Cutie, Owl City, This Will Destroy You.

Food: I like to think I'm considered a bon vivant. I write reviews for Yelp.com so I enjoy going places I've never been and trying them out. I think if I had to pick a favorite food type it would be Tex-Mex, although BBQ is a close second.

The six things I could never do without

(aside from the obligatory faith, friends and family in no particular order)

Computer and internet - I spend a good amount of time on the computer usually just perusing the internet. Its actually how I found OkCupid. Used StumbleUpon and it brought me to an article from the blog they write here. Figured it was free so I should sign up.

My G1 (its a phone) - originally rumored to be the Google Phone meant to compete with the iPhone, the G1 runs off of Google's Android operating system. After using it I have come to believe that it is one of the easiest to use operating systems and have basically decided that I can't go with anything else. That and its Google. They own me.

Being able to write - This one is a bit tricky because I hardly ever just sit down and say oh I should write. However, whenever inspiration strikes its really nice to just be able to write it down and have it out in the open. Whether its just venting about something in my life or analyzing lyrics I really do enjoy writing about it.

A car - I add a qualifier to this statement in that I could easily do without my current 1990 Toyota Camry with 173K miles on it as long as I had a different car to use. I live in Texas and if you haven't noticed Texas is kinda big. Unfortunately, this puts a damper on public transportation because its quite a production just to get across town. A running car with cold a/c is a must in Texas.

Photography/My Nikon camera - I'm not sure if by photography I mean me taking the pictures or just the art in general. I love looking through old photographs that my parents have around the house because they each have their own story. Sometimes you can see the story in the pictures and other times you have to infer. It is such a captivating art to me because it captures moments in time.

Tex-Mex food - While I wasn't born in Texas I have spent all but 2 years of my life living here and claim it as mine. While BBQ is definitely something synonymous with Texas that I love, I think Tex-Mex has demanded even more of my attention. The flavors and spices of good Tex-Mex is something you just can't find anywhere else.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home watching a movie with my roommates and/or friends or possibly two-stepping at some honky-tonk. Usually just chilling around my apartment.

You should message me if

You're into kinda geeky guys (even though I took a test and it said I was normal)
You enjoy awkward IM conversations (because i'm pretty sure that's what the first couple will be)
You think I'd be a good guy to know
You need a good laugh
(BTW you don't have to meet all these qualifiers)
