My self-summary
I'm an optimistic man person--a "down-to-earth" Midwesterner. I think I'm loving, romantic, realistic.... independent, but respectful-- loyal; heartfelt and sometimes funny. I'm looking for a woman who can appreciate the same, and has time to share life. Compassion for others a +.

I work in the social services field where I've been for seven years, and I study writing at UCLA. But I've done a lot of things in life, as far as work, and particularly liked being a sports writer, a news writer, and radio journalist; a book seller at the "mystical' Bodhi Tree, and being a political activist to help create change in society. My interests include people and animals, and all living things.

I've traveled a little; walked cities of Tokyo, Managua, hitchhiked to Skopje after walking Athens; taken a train in Winter to Glasgow from London, walked Rio, Vienna, London, Mexico, Zurich, Bern, Tel Aviv, and Dubrovnik. Been in much of the US and some of the South. I'm from Omaha.

My walking haunt now is the Santa Monica Palisades, above the ocean, where I walk most mornings. I wear out shoes.
I like to learn about where I live, and in my free time, I love to explore LA , and SoCal.

I travel by light rail, Amtrak, walking, bus, bicycle, or car; locally--from Chinatown to Ventura, from the Anza to Santa Monica. (Once I took public transportation back from Anza Borrego desert, to prove to myself it could be done - hint: LA via San Diego will get you home).

Am decidedly left wing, but as someone once said--I'm not necessarily trying to change the world, but am more interested trying to keep it from changing me.

I am active, however, in trying to bring an end to the American sponsored Occupation of Gaza and West Bank by Israel. In that sense I'd like to change the world. "Money for jobs, not for war, US out of.....fill in the blank".
What I’m doing with my life
Writing, going to Franklin Canyon, sometimes camping in the desert and forest, driving to Santa Barbara or San Luis-- to the Redwoods or a national park.

I've managed small non-profits in the past. Now, I'm working for a fine local non-profit which serves the homeless and low income population. I make time to read, walk, go to movies, sometimes dine out. I like radio, not commercial TV.

I like to grow cactus, and have a full porch of it. Sometimes I get in the mood to grow edibles. I have one jasmine plant.
I’m really good at
Judging character, popping popcorn in a pan,
& knowing what direction I'm walking.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm not looking into my phone as I walk down the street.
