My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
At first I seem to many, very contradictory; an altruistic misanthrope, very logical minded yet personally emotional, etc. but don't let that throw you.

Personally, I'm very dedicated to those who are important to me, honest (almost to a fault), a very good listener. I tend to be a very tactile person, especially with my partner, expect a lot of hugs and such.

My sense of humor is a bit off-center, a mix of dark and goofy (but not stupid), often engaging in word-play, pop-culture references and the like. Playfulness often dominates my life, (you HAVE to have fun!). I tend to be somewhat of a geek (but not a dweeb), interested in tech and science.

I am a very casual person, both in demeanor and dress (though not sloppy or rude), a t-shirt and shorts dresser. While I agree that a certain level of decorum is essential in society, life is too short to worry about minutia. Function above form.

The arts are very important to me, with the exception of dance. I am a voracious music fan; rock, jazz, classical, blues, reggae and more. Sculpture, painting, architecture, gastronomy? Absolutely. Admittedly, I don't read as much as I'd like, as I do utilize the internet for light reading and entertainment.

I feel that being open-minded, honest and respectful are very important qualities in a person (myself and others).

Feel free to ask about anything not covered here.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I seem to be in a bit of a holding pattern, waiting for the new chapter in my life to begin. Can you help me turn that page?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Fairly competent in the kitchen.
I've been told that I am a good masseur (though I'm out of practice)
Listening, with a side of empathy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been told by some that it's my eyes, referred to as " Very expressive and often easy to tell whether [I am] serious, teasing, etc. " and "Big brown puppy eyes".

Another says "... someone who is confident in himself. At first, [I] appear to be stand-offish, however, [they] know that is just because [I can be] shy until [I] feel comfortable with the person."

Perhaps you could tell me what you noticed when we meet.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I really don't have a go-to author, I'm currently reading a lot of nonfiction, history and biographies, but Steven King is great for an entertaining, mindless read.

I like a lot of film styles, though not big on let's-blow-a-lot-of-stuff-up action genre or French art film. I do enjoy classics from the 40s and 50s, Scorsese, Kubrick, Lynch, cheeze/camp (Zardoz), etc. Some favorites include Taxi Driver, Arsenic & Old Lace, A Clockwork Orange, Monkey Business, and Blue Velvet. Animation holds a special place in my heart, Classic Warner Bros., Brothers Quay, Norman McLaren among many others.

Currently, there are not many TV shows I watch. News, cooking shows and Fox animation constitute my current viewing habits. Past shows I've liked include Star Trek, Twilight Zone, X-Files, Twin Peaks, M. Python, Black Adder.

Musically, I'm all over the place (see above). Top albums include:
Fripp & Eno - Evening Star
Sex Pistols - Never Mind...
John Coltrane - Blue Trane
LV Beethoven - Symphony #9 (still looking for the perfect version though)
Jeff Beck - Wired
Scraping Foetus off the Wheel - Nail
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland

As far as food goes, there is no overall type/style I dislike. I'm pretty adventurous (I'll try most anything once).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Other than the obvious air/water/food group, I would say:

Good friends
Internet (I admit it)
A raison d'être (why merely exist?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Sometimes, Walter Mitty-like fantasies.
Perhaps "heavy" philosophical matters (nature of God)
Life, the Universe and everything ;-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working :-(
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I once posed nude for a Spencer Tunick photo in the '90s.
