My self-summary
I can't walk by a dog on the street without saying hello to it and if I could be any animal, I'd be a sea otter. What would you be?

I've been known to watch Top Chef while eating a bowl of fruit loops.

I believe you should treat other people how you want to be treated.

My friends are SUPER important to me.

I love to swim in lakes.

I like to try new things--I recently started taking Kung Fu classes, which I'm excited about.

I want to leave out some of my quirks for you to learn about as you get to know me and have a feeling that the things we will like about each other won't be the things we write about on this profile.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a director of programs and communications at a small non-profit focused on girls’ education.
I’m really good at
word games (crossword puzzles, scrabble, scattegories)

being silly.

being a friend.

looking at the positive side of things.
The first things people usually notice about me
my eyes-they are in the blue/green family but people tend to comment on not being exactly sure what color they are.

That I tend to be good at putting people at ease. I care a lot about people and do my best to make people feel comfortable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: For years I've preferred non-fiction (some favorites: Fiddler on The Subway, The Unlikely Disciple, Crashing Through, Complications, The Know-It-All) but very recently I've been getting into fiction, which has surprised me but I'm enjoying it.

Movies: Similar to my affection for non-fiction books, I enjoy documentaries--I think there are so many amazing real life stories to learn about. I just learned they are making a documentary about the PS 22 Chorus in NYC which I hope is awesome!(If you don't know who the PS 22 Chorus is, look them up-they'll make you smile!) Some favorite docs include: To Be and To Have, Spellbound, Mad Hot Ballroom, Tyson, Encounters at the End of World. Though there is definitely room for non-documentaries too. I liked Moneyball a lot most recently-a recent arrival from Netflix is The Beginners which I hear is good.

Food: I love good ole fashioned comfort food, nothing like a great plate of spaghetti with some garlic bread and a salad. Like most 8-year-olds, I love pizza and ice cream. I love many baked goods and Greek food. I love fruit and vegetables fresh from farmers' markets.
The six things I could never do without
1. Brunch
2. Fresh Air/Natural light
3. Time with friends
4. A job I care about that feels like it's making some sort of positive difference in the world
5. Some sort of trip planned (no matter how small)-I was fortunate to go Australia (!) for work recently which was amazing. Next up a cabin on a lake in NH.
6. Sleep
I spend a lot of time thinking about
food...my next meal, my next snack, you name it. My family has a dog right now that cares about playing way more than eating and while I adore the dog, and who doesn't love to play, I simply can't relate to not getting excited about food. To me there should be equal room for both eating and playing. I also spend a lot of time thinking about my friends and family-I try to keep quite up-to-date with the most important people in my life.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I tend to make a point of telling people that I made it to the gym before work on the few times that that happens. It happens so rarely that I seek out credit for my awesomeness. And even if I do start to go more often, I think I would still seek out credit.

  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 24–44
  • Near me

You should message me if

as my British friend would say, you don’t easily get your “knickers in a twist.”

believe balance in life is important.

like to learn new things.

realize we don't have to everything in common to get along really well.

or, maybe you just like some of what you read somewhere in this profile, and are curious enough to know a bit more...
