My self-summary
I'm now a biology grad student @ CSU (M.S. candidate). Research was done this summer, and I'm set to defend in the fall.

I graduated with a BS in biology in May of '08, and worked for a chemical company as chemist until October of that year. Between being a chemist and starting grad school this year, I took time off to apply for jobs and "live the dream".

The beach is my favorite place followed closely by anything with trees. I'm almost scuba certified, and in the summer I hike around NE Ohio. I like plants (growing, studying), and I used to work for the board of health in Cuyahoga county.

As far as religion and politics...I'm moderate because although I'm liberal on many platforms, I am conservative on some. I'm technically catholic but am more of an eastern blend than anything else. I don't push my ideas on others, but I do like to have intelligent arguments. Intelligent arguments are a big turn-on.

I still think this self-summary doesn't really even begin to describe me, so I will respond nicely to messages that are just a bunch of questions.

I've been known to wear hemp/tie-dye, but I also like looking neat and clean. The latter usually consists of a button-down shirt tucked into jeans, along with clean shoes. I also like to change my hair, both facial and the stuff on top of my head (scalpial?). I've been known to dye my hair black on the rare occasion. I run short hair until it grows longer (obviously). So it transitions into a pseudo-Dr. James Wilson, and then into what has been called "Crazy Bum" and "Hippie" hair. Then I cut it short again. Facial hair usually follows a similar pattern of growth => carve/trim => bare face => repeat.

I am a tree hugger, sarcastic, and not easily amused

What I’m doing with my life
Grad School. I'm in my 3rd semester of MS candidacy for biology at Cleveland State University.

Other than school, my job is something that most people don't consider a real job. No, I'm not a prostitute. You have 3 guesses.

I do fun things too, like most people. See the "Typical Friday" section for more info on those things.

I’m really good at
- Being a hermit. It takes something fun to get me away from all the goodies in the house. Eg. I don't hang out in bars, or just with people anywhere for the hell of it
- Being sarcastic
- Seeing the other side of an argument
- Saying something too harsh, but full of truth
- Not getting lost in the woods. Seriously
- Being there. I can't count how many times I've jumped cars or left the house at some weird time to help someone
- Writing. I used to write a lot of poetry because it acted like a relief valve, and I'm pretty good at argument
- Time/work management (master procrastinator and dominant personality)
- Cooking. I'm not the best there ever was, or will be but I've never been impressed by Bobby Flay. I'm sure I can do what he does. I was asked once, "You mean, you cook like real food? Like meat?" I chuckled, and said, "Yes, I can cook meat AND vegetables. My meals usually consist of chicken/fish, a carb like rice or pasta, and some vegetables."

I just realized that although all of the above are true, none of it makes me sound fun.

I'm also good at...
- Riding roller coasters
- Not showing up empty handed
- Staying awake
- Not making an ass out of myself when I'm wasted
- Referencing movies

The first things people usually notice about me
No idea. I've never asked anyone this question, and no one has ever told me what they had noticed about me first.

What's the first thing you noticed about me?

I try really hard to either be liked or disliked very quickly. Most people think I'm a little over-the-top about it. Somehow, one person has even referred to me as charming and I've tried to be anything but that around her.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books...
- Dandelion Wine
- Marijuana Grower's Guide by Mel Frank
- Clockwork Orange
- The 'Gita
- Most of my reading consists of scientific articles, A.K.A primary literature.

Music...
- I like to a lot of everything, but I probably listen to Hot Fuss too often. Synth pop? Yes! Currently there's way too much She Wants Revenge, Muse, and Hot Fuss playing
- Oh, and Interpol. I've seen them 3 times, and I will not hesitate to see them a 4th time
- I have seen Incubus twice, and I love their music. Especially the Make Yourself album
- Seriously, I could probably pick an artist from almost any genre that I like. I think people that don't like music are strange
- I'll admit I like dance music. I don't care which decade it's from. No, I'm not a glow stick tool
- I dislike most country (newer) and Nickleback (all)

Movies...
- Caddyshack
- Lock Stock N' Two Smokin' Barrels
- Snatch
- Interview with the Vampire (was just on TV the other day and I still love it)
- Bram Stoker's Dracula
- I watched the Mad Max trilogy the other night and I was entertained. I might like jews, but I do also like Mel Gibson
- I somehow forgot James Bond movies, although the more recent movies have been awful
- American Beauty & Forrest Gump (thanks Yao)
- So many others. Everything from B action movies, to Herald and Maude

Food...
- Anything but eastern european food
- Italian food
- Tea (any kind that isn't fruited to death)
- I'm not a big fan of red meat, so I eat a lot of chicken

I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future. I know I'll be fine, but I guess the next ~5 years are what scare me the most

or

Am I really too picky? I'm not sure. Recently someone was "next'd" because she didn't "believe" in evolution. Some of my friends said that was going too far, while others said I was right.

On a typical Friday night I am
Usually a couple things...
- Movies. I like movies, and I'm critical of them. I can and will go see a movie alone
- Eating. Although I'm not a person that "loves food", I do really enjoy going out to eat anywhere. Anything from nicer places to holes in the wall.
- Goin' to see some random rock show. Peabody's makes the Grog Shop look clean. I miss The Agora. HoB can be fun, but it's no Agora.
- Parties. It's hard for me to pass up a party with a guest list full of people that I actually enjoy being around.
- Sitting around because I usually don't need to be entertained by other people, and I don't normally crave social interaction. Being at home for a night of music, movies, food (cooked by me), and maybe some 9-ball isn't such a bad time. Don't get me wrong, I like to do fun things with fun people. I just don't hang out in bars unless I have a good reason to.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Yes, I smoke pot but I am not a burnt-out stoner with 1/2 a fried brain. I really resent how too many people equate marijuana with stupidity, laziness, and other attributes with negative connotations.

Also, I have a Rx toothpaste.

I don't have very many secrets. It's hard for me to lie when asked any question.

My criteria are only 1. be intelligent/open-minded and have an opinion 2. Be skinny, or in shape: I'm skinny, and I'm not into chubby/overweight/(insert nice word for fat) girls.

I will say that you score extra points off the bat for the following: 1. you are distrustful of the govt 2. you value social freedom 3. you aren't in love with jesus 3. you don't hang out at bars all the time 4. you have some sort of education higher than high school
