looking for my moose

Nonlinear in all things, I arrived here through a series of seemingly disconnected perambulations, including but not limited to: (1) squatting abandoned properties in an effort to overthrow property relations; (2) traveling throughout the midwest and up & down the east coast selling sunglasses; (3) writing a still-beloved book on the Mexican Revolution; (4) making out with Meryl Streep in San Francisco -- true story; (5) winning a Fullbright scholarship to study for a PhD in philosophy; (6) reading intensely French & German thought (mostly ethics and politics) and ultimately lots of feminist care ethics; (7) dropping out of the aforementioned program in order to do a second undergrad at CCNY in Computer Science.

Now, i am working as a software engineer.

snuggled up with Shorty The Dog

THE ROMANTIC DOGS

Back then, I'd reached the age of twenty
and I was crazy.
I'd lost a country
but won a dream.
As long as I had that dream
nothing else mattered.
Not working, not praying
not studying in the morning light
alongside the romantic dogs.
And the dream lived in the void of my spirit.
A wooden bedroom,
cloaked in half-light,
deep in the lungs of the tropics.
And sometimes I'd retreat inside myself
and visit the dream: a statue eternalized
in liquid thoughts,
a white worm writing
in love.
A runaway love.
A dream within another dream.
And the nightmare telling me: you will grow up.
You'll leave behind the images of pain and of the labyrinth
and you'll forget.
But back then, growing up would have been a crime.
I'm here, I said, with the romantic dogs
and here I'm going to stay.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
