My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I a NorCal guy (Oakland, specifically). I've been in New York long enough that I consider it a second home, which was always the intention. But I could wax poetic about California for days.

I went to Columbia, and that was mostly cool. Now I live in Clinton Hill, which is a nice respite from Manhattan. I like that the sunlight hits the ground and that I can go to a world-class park and see zero tourists.

I work at a sports-media website. I won't go into details but I'm not a peon. It's very satisfying to do work that matters in a subject on which I'm knowledgeable and enthusiastic. However sports are not the be-all-end-all, and the next step isn't far off.

I'm not a romantic, but I'm a passionate person. I'd like to feel passionately about someone. But I ain't forcing it.

Writing an OK Cupid self-summary is a very meta undertaking. I'm still trying to decide if it's a useful one.

You will simply not meet a bigger fan of the Golden State Warriors.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I'm not working I make time for working out, following politics, taking long New Yorky walks, reading on the Subway, stimulating conversation, and having adventures with my friends. I spend a lot of time in my head, and also in the clouds.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Seeing your point; spelling and grammar; driving; being organized; singing; knowing the Subway; things that require athleticism; wit, charm, sarcasm and self-deprication.
The first things people usually notice about me

Well, I'd tell you if I knew exactly what other people were thinking (that would be an awesome superpower and I definitely would abuse it with impunity). All that physical stuff you can tell from my photos and profile info, so here are some less superficial guesses:

My unique name; I tend to use big words; I know and lot of really random information, and will passionately and unapologetically share it with you (force it on you); I'm pretty good at conversations with strangers.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
-Books: A Song of Ice and Fire, The Book of Basketball, Crime and Punishment, Republic: Lost, Dreams from My Father, The Godfather, Leviathan...

-Movies: Action and science fiction mostly, but open to anything. I love watching movies I've never seen before, and will never see again. And of course, anything with James Bond in it.

-Shows: House of Cards, Futurama, Archer, The Walking Dead, Batman: the Animated Series, Breaking Bad, 30 Rock, SportsCenter, PTI, Game of Thrones, some liberal talking heads...

-Music: Michael Jackson is my favorite, but I love almost everything else. I'm an iTunes purist; no Spotify for me, and very little Pandora. I like to be in control.

-Food: My current diet consists mainly of Dos Toros burritos. I hate salt and vinegar chips.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Empathy; Basketball; Real Friends; Coffee; Epic Landscapes; Music and the means to hear it; Things that cover my ears in the winter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How weird and generally uninformative online profiles are; Global climate change; The ineptitudes and corruptions of all levels of American government; The differences between a person, people and society; Sports; How lucky I am; Pragmatism; The really cool stuff we've made. e.g. airplanes, smartphones, suspension bridges, etc.; Anxiety; The monumental paths products take to get from their unadulterated origins to me, and how many of those products end up as damaging waste; My next moves in life; Traveling; Architecture; Things that make me laugh; Imagined communities; Action movies; Passion; Issues that affect Black people; Issues that affect poor people; What/Where/When my next tattoo will be; Metaphysics; Holy shit, there are 7 billion other people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
This question annoys me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a fervently nonreligious person who loves Christmas. It's by far my favorite holiday, followed by anything with fireworks. Santa and Jesus would be the most bomb-ass gay dad combo ever. Think about it.
