My self-summary
So! I just got a new job, yay me! This means I have less time for dating, but more money to do it. It's a trade I'll take.

I'm a late school-goer (ask me why!) who switches majors like changing socks. Last time it was education. Now it's Japanese. Again. We'll see if it sticks this time.

I love horror anything (books, movies, artwork, etc), spend far too much time obsessing over Jimi Hendrix, listening to japanese and korean music (only partly for the language learning potential), play video games more than is healthy, am a total book nerd, and am dedicated to learning how to cook as many delicious things as I can. I sing when I'm drunk or when I'm in the car by myself, but I have terrible stage fright. I love languages and am now teaching myself Korean, and I'm just learning to love getting healthier. Baby steps so far, but we all learn to run from baby steps right?

Right now I'm not looking for anything terribly serious - if it comes, it comes. But I do love to have adventures, and I love to share them with people I care about.
What I’m doing with my life
Searching for new authors to read. Thus far nobody has been able to replace my beloved Jack Ketchum and Stephen King (trash, but good trash), but I'm always looking.

I'm re-exploring the Bay Area, catching things I've missed despite living here for nearly 20 years. My next adventure - trying to find a place where I can actually hike to a secluded beach. It's good fun thus far.

Also I'm really enjoying going to local games, shows, and other stuff. You haven't lived until you've done the jaws gesture at a Sharks game.

I also LOVE to cook! if you have any interesting recipes, especially traditional ones from other cultures, I'd love to have them!
I’m really good at
Losing myself in a book or a video game that interests me.
Learning new languages.
Finding dives that secretly have amazing food, just on a hunch.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've never actually asked this question, but a lot of people say they like my smile. I'll go with that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Far, far, far too many to list, but I'll give it a try.

Books: The Girl Next Door and Red, by Jack Ketchum. Off season is also pretty good, but a little too fantastical. If you don't like gore, don't bother with these. My favorite book of all time ever remains IT, by Stephen King. Thus far I've read three copies to tatters. I also love Neil Gaiman, Tolkein, Jeff Lindsay (writer of Dexter, I just pretend the third book doesn't exist), Matheson, Clive Barker, and Peter Straub. I also like to pretend that I'm too good for James Patterson, but when I'm desperate...

Movies: As stated above, I am a horror movie fan. My favorites include Jaws, Halloween, The Changeling, and Black Christmas. Older horror is the best. I also cry at the Shawshank Redemption, laugh out loud at Serenity, and delude myself into thinking I can do awesome kung fu after watching any number of gorgeous HK action films.
I also enjoy doing my very own MST3K's to any number of 80's horror movies, often featuring slime in a prominent role.

Music: My god, so many. Let's go through my ipod a little, shall we? Let's see - Amuro Namie, The Herd, Chocolate Watchband, Janis Joplin, Epik High, the soundtrack to the Social Network, the soundtrack to The Matrix, a little Kanye, a little Dead Prez, a little Less than Jake, a little MF Doom. That's just a fraction. I like a lot of stuff.

TV: My only cannot miss shows are Top Gear, Dr. Who, Being Human, Top Chef, and RuPaul's Drag Race. I'm also Joss Whedon's bitch, and I'm kind of okay with that.
The six things I could never do without
1. My dogs
2. Laughter
3. Books. Lots of them. Kindle is the greatest invention.
4. Music
5. A good recipe (or many)
6. A sense of adventure

These are in no particular order, really.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I should read next. Who I should listen to next. Why they call them flapjacks. Where I can find a place to get a good beer and find a good crowd at the same time.
On a typical Friday night I am
In the summer, I'm drinking a beer at the beach with my friends. In the winter, I'm usually at a comedy show or watching a DVD. Sometimes a comedy show ON dvd.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I still own my teddy bear and sleep with it when I'm feeling really sick and/or stressed.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 26–34
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
Something I've written intrigues you. You've found the coolest dive bar ever and must share with somebody. You've got a good recipe. You want to discuss books. You think going to a science-related museum is the best first date ever. You identify strongly with the hero in a Byron poem.
Or, you know, if you feel like it.
