I am geeky, irreverent, and driven.
My Self-Summary
I'm a young, fun, ambitious professional in San Francisco. A native
of Southern California, I spent three years living and working in
London, England before I was transferred here to run my company's
West Coast office.
I am very big on the work hard, play hard philosophy of living, and
always put my best effort into whatever I'm doing.
I am now looking for a potential relationship with someone who has
lofty goals and the ambition to achieve them, but also has a real
passion for life. And if I make some friends and have some fun in
the pursuit of this, that's just fine by me!
What I’m doing with my life
I am Managing Director of the San Francisco office of an
international PR and marketing agency, specializing in
business-to-business external communications for companies in the
high tech and energy fields.
Yes, I am rather young for this position, but I have worked hard to
get here, and I have the student loan debt to prove it!
I’m really good at
Playing into my job, communication is one of my best skills. I
consider myself to be an excellent writer, especially when it comes
to highly technical subjects. Additionally, I am a very good public
speaker and presenter (literally have been winning speech contests
since I was 6 years old). At the same time, I think I'm a pretty
good conversationalist, and can usually find something in common
with most people.
I also think of myself as a creative person, but not an artistic
one at all.
And, if I do say so myself, I am a fantastic vacation planner! When
my friends and I are planning a trip, they leave everything to me,
as I love finding the best flight and hotel deals. I also will plan
out all ground transportation, print out all necessary
confirmations, maps, guides, etc., make sure everyone is awake and
ready to be early for connections, etc. This is not to say I'm a
travel-Nazi or anything like that, just that I always like to be
prepared and on top of things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think this really depends on the circumstances. Meeting me in the
morning on the MUNI on my way to work in a suit reading the FT
you'll probably get a very different impression than you would
meeting me on a Friday night out, or on a Sunday afternoon riding
my bike along the beach for that matter.
I suppose one of the most common things people point out when I've
first met them are my eyes, which are a fairly uncommon shade of
light blue. I've been complimented on them constantly since I was a
little kid!
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
So many! I'm a huge fan of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City
(both the books and TV series). Anything by David Sedaris as well.
At the moment I'm reading 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies', which
I can't recommend enough.
Other TV shows that are set on my DVR include: Ugly Betty, Mad Men,
Brothers And Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Greek, Californication,
Little Britain, Entourage, The Amazing Race, Robot Chicken, Family
Guy, and Weeds.
As for movies, there really are too many to list. They span the
spectrum from The Godfather to Mean Girls, Sex and the City to Star
Wars, Four Rooms to Love Actually, and about a million
others.
Music is another one that's way too diverse to pin down. I'm a bit
of an ABC boy - Anything But Country. My iPod has a wide range of
artists on it though, from Madonna to Jeff Buckley, Hot Chip to DJ
Tiesto, The Feeling to Frank Sinatra. I'll give almost any music a
chance.
And, partly due to my career, I consume massive amounts of the mass
media. That means reading several newspapers a day, as well as
subscribing to literally dozens of magazines at home and at work.
You might see me on the MUNI switching from The Advocate to Law
Technology News, and then to Conde Nast Traveler without batting an
eyelid.
A fascinating book I read recently was 'The White Tiger' by Avarind
Adiga. While it was slightly disturbing, it was brilliantly
written, and just so different than most other modern works of
literature.
Finally, as for food, I will try anything once, and most things
many more times than that! I love going to new restaurants, but
also quite enjoy cooking at home too. My favorite food would have
to be Mexican, which was the worst part about living in London as
the British know absolutely nothing about Latin American cooking.

The six things I could never do without
My phone, sarcastic humor, my passport, white wine, good scotch,
and my best friend/roommate!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
This is an interesting question. I'm the type who tends to
over-think many a subject. That would include my responses to these
questions!
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no such thing as a 'typical Friday night'. Sometimes it's
been a long week, maybe I had client events I attended, or travel I
did for work, so I end up staying in, watching some TV, and going
to bed early. Other times, I may meet up with friends and stay out
until the bars close. Or maybe I'll catch a flight out of town for
the weekend.
