My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
About me: (To the tune of cole Porter's"I got rhythm, I got Music", which i'm happy to sing to you along with many other classics):

I got kindness; I got rhythm,
I'm secure and playful, who could ask for anything more?

Am empathic, athletic,
full of passion; who could ask for anything more?

higher purpose, mission driven
always giving, upfor adventure;

Tooooooo' good, to be true?
I can prove it; let me do

[end of tune; and thanks for enduring that.]

So, If you write me, I will tell you two very good ways you can verify me. My two photos, btw, are about one year oldexcept the firsst one (with my heroines, the code pink women, which is 4-5 yrs old, but at least expresses my soul, my values.

BONUS: I also enjoy matchmaking and promise to intro you to two guys who fit several of your criteria if we are not a fit after our first meeting, assuming you are willing to go dancing or business mixers once or twice

Some FAVORITE QUOTES that communicate my values:

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage" (Anais Nin).
"Life is a daring adventure, or it's nothing at all." (Helen Keller)
"Love consists more in looking together in the same direction than looking each other in the eye" (St.Exupery, author of the Little Prince)

"The difference between a good marriage (OR COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP) & a great one is that in the latter each mate gives the other the same as in a good marriage, but in addition, each helps the other bring more truth, justice, &/or courage into the world.” (Tolstoy /GK).

This one is especially important to me and best explains why i'm single

I was married; divorced 12 years ago. I've raised other women's kids (they--the women and their kids are refs) and I like most kids.

What really makes me different, I think (and a big reason I suspect I am single, is my dedication to creating a Great, not just good marriage or committed relationship (see Tolstoy quote above).

I also love to dance (WCS, ECS, and salsa), sing (show tunes, acapella, etc), hike, and of course stay fit. So being intensely alive is probably another thing that scares away most American women.

I love cooking great meals too, am great with kids (that above mentioned book was hugely popular with single moms), offer a few other nice surprises women love. In fact, more than one of my ex gfs have said i'd make a great wife.

FYI, I am into NVC-- nonviolent communications, 5 languages of love, Gottman's 7 Principles, etc.

ECONOMICS: I am economically stable, own own home Grass Valley on year-round stream.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Besides my work (see below), I seeking a woman travel/adventure partner who, if she liked and trusted me enough would love to share arguably the most visually stunning and serene experience one can hav in life--a 3-4 day canoe-camping trip during peak fall colors on a mostly serene river (so beginners welcome) in Wisconsin or possibly Maine, (approx first week in Oct for WI, and around Sept 21-26 for Maine).
So vast number of points if willing to join me in that (feel free to invite others!. Really cheap, btw, except the airfare.)
Workwise (where most of my time goes):
I am founder/head psychologist for a startup, and i will bet you a nice dinner that you will find it absolutely fascinating, since it is arguably about the most important need in life after food and water and good health that the Internet has so far has failled to address--keeping and growing the love we find, not just finding it.

Former lives: successful investigative doc filmmaker (many PBS credits and awards)/ journalist, fundraiser, psychologist, and published author. So I am happy to help you in any of those pursuits if you need the help.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
creativity, listening, loyalty, being a friend, cuddling, love making, being a cheerleader; being a playmate, massage giver; co-creator of a better world; step parent or grand parent; win win out of the box solutions. All my ex's would definitely agree that with me, you'l never be bored and that they grew in good ways
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my eyes and smile or my intensity; good listener; my curiosity (one of the reasons i am still single in fact); I can, however, be very calm and turn off the intensity when not appropriate;
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Fav films are Norma Rae, Erin Brockovich, Inherit the Wind, Apu Trilogy, King of Hearts, 1000 clowns; Casablanca, anything George Clooney does; The Jerk, Chaplin, Orson Wells, etc.

LOVE Ted talks (especially the recent ones by Perel on infidelity), thisAmericanLife, theMoth.org, DemocracyNow, Rachel Maddow, Late nite with John Oliver, To the best of our knowledge, and Living on Earth etc
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my creativity and love of play
gratitude
nature
my friends
my energy
and dedication to leave the world better off by having been here
Health (duh)
sense i am making a difference or at least on a path that could make a huge positive difference to the planet and the less advantaged, ideally both (eg a Marshal plan that would create both millions of well paying jobs and convert the nation to solar and wind, plant millions of trees, stop our catastrophic rate of species extinction, and eliminate the fossil fuel industry
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the fact that we have the incredible yet frightening UNIQUE privilege and challenge of being the only generation in the history of our species that can save the planet as we know it--our mother; how best to do that--smarter ways to organize and grow a movement; my own startup--smartest way to find investor(s) soon for my startup, finding more talent--other cofounders, couple therapy and the user experience, how to be more efficient
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If not out dancing, then working out at gym and/or to help other couples succeed via my startup, or on my gamechanger app to help sanders get elected or at least counteract our catastrophic rate of species extinction. After all one thing better than achieving a long lasting happy marriage myself is being able to repair and save tens of thousands of others. Sometimes watching an inspiring or hilarious movie with a friend
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have about 5lbs around my tummy i am dying to get rid of, and i fudged my age, because the above age is closer to the truth than what pops into people's heads when i give the chronological age (68), because most people cannot believe my real age and insist i am at least 15yrs younger, plus almost all my relatives live vibrantly to late 90s, and 100s (without any alzeimers on either side or even cancer), and i've got way more energy than most 20-30 somethings. But i gots to be honest. Skype me first if you want to check me out ahead to see if i'm worth the risk.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
IF ANY of the following 4 categories apply:
1) you think we have enoughValues (not achievement or education) in common to be good friends; OR:
2) you like matchmaking (being a true friend to your single friends), since if we are not a fit, i will matchmake for you if you will matchmake for me, (I offer very generous reward, btw, if it works out); OR
3) if we might be able to help each other make the world better in some significant way, OR
4) you'd simply be interested in a dancing, singing (or songwriting) or silly play activity, or nature trip adventure partner.
