My self-summary
I'm a book-loving, NPR-listening, crossword puzzle-doing, marathon-running Brooklynite (who still sort of has a crush on Manhattan). I collect cookbooks, drink dark & stormies, and find comfort in all things Aaron Sorkin. I hate the cold, love BBQ, have a strong affinity for the Beatles and New Orleans jazz, and root hard for my hometown Orioles (an exercise in patience, to be sure). Also: I have the best deck in New York. Seriously. You might want to get to know me for that reason alone.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a recovering book editor and current magazine editor, and ghostwrite other people's books on the side while never finishing my own.
I’m really good at
LSAT logic games. I should probably put that to use sometime.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I swoon at all things Nabokov, Auster, Calvino, Poe, and Murakami and doubt that anything could change my opinion that Lolita is the best novel ever written. Recent loves include Colum McCann, David Mitchell, Dinaw Mengetsu, Per Petterson, and Junot Diaz.
Movies: Manhattan is cinematic perfection. The Big Lebowski is pretty damn close.
Shows: The West Wing, above all else. Mad Men. Arrested Development. And if you're anything like Danny from Sports Night, I will love you.
Music: The Beatles in any shape, size, or form. Radiohead. The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ella Fitzgerald. Janis Joplin. Django Reinhardt.
Food: Anything and everything. Except if it wiggles.
The six things I could never do without
Running shoes
Books (or a kindle so that I'd never run out, if we're talking some sort of desert island situation, presuming that there was a charger hidden somewhere in the palm trees)
Diet Coke (sorry, it's true. I welcome whatever third eye or deformed, chemical apendage that this addiction might eventually produce)
ketchup
iphone
Hmm. That's only 5. I suppose I'm a simple lady.
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking for friends. I like feeding people, and nothing makes me happier than a bunch of friends hanging out, eating, and drinking at my house.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 30–43
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
you're smart, funny, up for adventure, that kind of thing. You're interested in something, passionately, and want to teach me about it. You have normal things like friends and family and a job (or something that poses recognizably as one). You're honest. You care about the world in some sort of altruistic way. You'd think nothing of taking three trains to find good dumplings. You're also fine with ordering from the place across the street. You're kind and warm and thoughtful. And while I'm not trying to put anyone on my ConEd bill immediately, I am looking for a real relationship, so if you're not, please don't apply.
