My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Who me? Well, let's see. In a nutshell: warm and witty, employed and emotionally mature. Seeking same.
In a slightly bigger nutshell: east coast nomad (raised on the mean streets of Bethesda, Maryland; college in Providence; grad school in Cambridge; a good stint on the great isle of Manhattan) who found a happy little spot in Brooklyn several years ago. Huge reader, podcast junkie, marathon runner. Collector of cookbooks, drinker of dark & stormies, devoted watcher of all things Aaron Sorkin. Enthusiastic dinner-party thrower. Aficionado of BBQ, hater of cold weather, rabid Orioles fan (an exercise in patience, until this year!). Renter of the best deck in New York. Seriously. You might want to get to know me for that reason alone.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a recovering book editor and current magazine editor, and ghostwrite other people's books on the side. (Boo!)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I swoon at all things Nabokov, Auster, Calvino, Poe, and Murakami and doubt that anything could change my opinion that Lolita is the best novel ever written. Recent loves include Colum McCann, David Mitchell, Dinaw Mengetsu, Per Petterson, and Junot Diaz.
Movies: Manhattan is cinematic perfection. The Big Lebowski is pretty damn close.
Shows: The West Wing, above all else. Mad Men. Friday Night Lights. Arrested Development. Treme. Broad City. And if you're anything like Danny from Sports Night, I will love you.
Music: The Beatles. Radiohead. The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ella Fitzgerald. Janis Joplin. Django Reinhardt. New Orleans-y jazz.
Food: Anything and everything. Except if it wiggles.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Running shoes
Books (or a kindle so that I'd never run out, if we're talking some sort of desert island situation, presuming that there was a charger hidden somewhere in the palm trees)
Diet Coke (sorry, it's true. I welcome whatever third eye or deformed, chemical apendage that this addiction might eventually produce)
Hmm. That's only 5. I suppose I'm a simple lady.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people always say they love to laugh on these things. Does anyone actually think laughing sucks?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Cooking for friends. I like feeding people, and nothing makes me happier than a bunch of friends hanging out, eating, and drinking at my house.

you're smart, funny, up for adventure, that kind of thing. You're interested in something, passionately, and want to teach me about it. You have normal things like friends and family and a job (or something that poses recognizably as one). You're honest. You care about the world in some sort of altruistic way. You'd think nothing of taking three trains to find good dumplings. You're also fine with ordering from the place across the street. You're kind and warm and thoughtful. You like kids. And while I'm not trying to put anyone on my ConEd bill immediately, I am looking for a real relationship, so if you're not, please don't apply.
