Professionally, I am a linguist and a philologist with my degree in Latin. It is my ambition to become a teacher, but I presently work in a somewhat skilled clerical position at a manufacturing company.
Recreationally, I enjoy science fiction and fantasy media as well as video games (generally of the RPG and action, but not shooter, types). I'm also a tabletop gamer, and I have a stable group of dear friends with whom I play or even run one or another tabletop RPG every week. I also play a game called Dagorhir, which we always contend is Not A LARP but rather a padded-weapon fighting game that puts very little stock in things like roleplaying but rather a lot in combatants' actual fighting abilities. As a result, I'm okay at best at it.
Religiously, I am an atheist and a humanist, meaning that I don't take the hypothesis that God exists any more seriously than I take anything else that can be imagined but for which there is no evidence, but that I believe in humanity's ability to improve our own conditions.
Politically, I'm a liberal progressive, but I also believe that almost all politicians are inherently cowardly and ineffectual. As a result I tend to vote for Democrats not because I think they're necessarily good leaders but because I think Republicans tend to be far worse.
I have a beard. I think I look better with than without it. If the beard is a dealbreaker, think about what kind of person that makes you.
