My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well lets see here... I've moved around a bit, I was born in Virginia and have lived in Munich, Chicago, Champaign, Milwaukee, Vienna, Santa Fe and now Milwaukee again. I suppose having relocated so much has made me enjoy, if not seek out travelling as much as possible. I've amassed over 170 college credit hours in my academic career so far, in fields ranging from conflict resolution/international security, German literature, linguistics, international studies, history, nuclear engineering, philosophy, economics to polly sci, and look forward to learning more and more wherever I can. I think that I am pretty easy going and amicable and have a colorful past that I sometimes think should be written about, comically. I like every sport I've ever come across with basketball, trail running and beach volleyball being my top three positive vices at the moment. I have a healthy appreciation of all things beautiful, with that said, I like to find beauty as much as I strive find a higher degree of truth in the meaning of things, and so cultural affairs provide me with endless food for thought.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work as computer technician and I volunteer teaching basic literacy and as a big brother. I'm considering becoming a teacher full time, the thought of teaching abroad tickles me, so that's my plan B if I start feeling complacent here. I like to keep up with current events, I'm an international conflict and energy security sponge.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm a pretty good cook and like it spicy and my ribs are on point. I shoot a decent game of pool, play a serious game of chess and scrabble and can throw any object with great accuracy. I do make a lot jokes, about everything and they make me laugh so they can't be all that bad. I'm really good at yelling in German, shooting jumpers, fixing computers and other stuff, getting a little giddy around animals, and am a very accomplished wandering ponderer. And perhaps most of all, I have somehow developed an innate irrational impetus to injure my two big toes, I don't know what I did to the universe to deserve it, but it is a reality through which I suffer.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
How should I know, I'm not them!! and I'm not so self serving that I ask people that. But, if I was to guess... my absurdly long arms perhaps, or my neanderthalesque pertruding furrowed eyebrows and exaggerated under-bite. Or my inadvertent guttural developments. Who knows.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Anything from Christopher Hitchens and Noam Chompsky, oohh and Dave Sedaris and Dave Barry too. Mark Twain's humor isn't lost on me either. Currently reading Vernon God Little and The Life and Death of American Journalism.
Kevin Smith movies and Broken Lizard, and some of Mel Brooks' movies will always have a place in my heart (especially Spaceballs and Men in Tights). I can always appreciate a movie for not being formulaic, even if it has other serious shortcomings. I love scary movies, but then I can usually put them together with comedies.
TV shows include: Sons of Anarchy, The Inbetweeners, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The League, Farscape, Shameless, Ultimate Fighter, Spartacus, MI5, Blue Mountain State, Top Gear, Venture Brothers, Breaking Bad, Freaks and Geeks, Battlestar Galactica, The Wire.
I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, so here are some of my favorite artists. Cake, Beck, Tool, Diggable Planets, Paul Johnson, Benny Benassi, Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party, Grammatic, The Black Keys, Weezer, White Stripes, Bop Alloy, Cage the Elephant, Camp Lo, Common, Damian and Bob Marley, Gomez, Wiz Khalifa, Rammstein, KMFDM, Modestep, Pretty Lights, Rage, The Pixies, Nitty Gritty Bluegrass Band, Nas, Mumford and Sons, Lupe, Kanye, MC J.U.I.C.E, Immortal Technique, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Griz, Grateful Dead, Aventura, Prince Royce, The Grouch, Ratatat, Aphex Twin, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Dilated People, Muddy Waters.
I like all kinds of food, especially spicy food and bold flavors.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. making uncouth, sadistic and lowbrow comments to level the inspirational posts on facebook
2. objective news outlets
3. my trail running shoes
4. microbrews and single malts
5. books and computers
6. garnering reactions from people, affirmation or otherwise
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What the hell I'm gonna do the rest of my life! where I will run next. Politics, conflict and culture. How to become a better teacher. How to fix things going bad in my car. Meeting someone new and meeting someone old.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hopefully out!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
