My self-summary
I believe Zaphod put it best when he said, “I’m just this guy, you know?”

I should probably get it out of the way that I’m definitely a nerd. Go ahead, take a look at my pictures, and read it again. Yep, nerd here. I clean up okay when I’m not lying passed out on the couch covered in Cheetos and Mountain dew, after an all-night bender playing Call of Duty. Full disclosure: I don’t drink soda, I don’t eat Cheetos, I don’t play Call of Duty, and I’m usually in bed before midnight.

I often find myself divided between different worlds. I spent my early childhood living part-time on my father's farm, and part time in Spokane. Later, during high school, I lived in a small town you've never heard of. I moved to Seattle as soon as possible, having made my decision which world I preferred to live in.

As an adult, I was and still am divided between the creative world of artists, models, painters, makeup artists, and other creators of culture, and the wildly different world of computer geeks, linux hackers, software engineers, and video game developers. There is in fact more overlap than you might imagine, but it is sometimes still disorienting!
What I’m doing with my life
Maybe it was the naiveté of youth, or maybe I was just caught up in the exuberance of the boom years, but I decided to start out my adult education with an art degree. I love the experience I had, but making a living as a photographer these days is only somewhat more likely than winning the lottery. After taking a break for a while, I’m back in school with the goal of becoming a software engineer. I want to build our future robot overlords!

I consider myself in school still, but I'm actually taking a break right now. I'm going to return to school in the fall, but I have the spring and summer to focus on moving the rest of my life forward a little bit and exploring some possibilities Id been neglecting previously.
I’m really good at
I have several projects that I'm working on or are in the planning stages. I want to build a small robot to drive around my house, I am building my own website from scratch, and I am teaching myself how to build apps for smartphones. At least it doesn't get boring! (for me, anyway.)

As previously mentioned, I'm not bad with a camera. However, my focus (har har) has shifted to working on my new direction. (programming/computer science)

I enjoy cooking, especially breakfast. I love pancakes, waffles, omelets, French toast, etc. I’ll eat breakfast any time of day! I may be somewhat less well-versed in my dinner dishes, (pasta is a staple) but I love trying new recipes and improvising on old ones.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I won't bore you with an exhaustive list of every musician, movie, TV show, or book that I've ever enjoyed. That would be a waste of an evening for you and me! Here's a few important ones for each category.

Music: Jonathan Coulton, Portishead, Daft Punk, and Billie Holiday.

Books: Anything by Isaac Asimov, The Perks of Being a Wallflower,(Stephen Chbosky), Whirlwind (James Clavell), and Jailbird (Kurt Vonnegut).

Movies: Sin City, City of God, and Sunshine.

TV: The Wire, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Newsroom, and Firefly.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order, I need the following six things in order to support my first world lifestyle!

1. Smartphone
2. Friends
3. NPR
4. Bicycle
5. Kitchen
6. Coffee
On a typical Friday night I am
On Friday nights I'm usually working. I'll re-interpret this question as: "what do you do on your free evenings?"

I like to catch a live show when I can. I saw Garbage and Wax Tailor when they were in town, both great shows! I'm always keeping an eye out for great shows coming to Seattle, but sometimes it's nice to roll the dice and go see whatever's playing!

I love playing board games. I'm trying to expand my collection right now, I currently own Settlers of Catan and Pandemic. If you have or have played those or Robo-Rally, Cosmic Encounter, or Betrayal at House on the Hill, we should talk.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not actually human. I am a flesh and bone facsimile that adequately resembles a human form. underneath my fleshy exterior, however, there is a brain of silicon and a heart of steel.
