My self-summary
"Dude, you are a lady and a film scholar" - best compliment ever granted to me by my friend.

I carry mix tapes (ok, mix cds) with me to give to new and interesting people I meet.

I know I'm getting old because I'm starting to find Leonard Cohen's music sexy
What I’m doing with my life
...working in counseling and social services, being a "big picture" person, trying to use creative skills for the betterment of society.

In my free time I cruise Caravan Club meets in southeast England. It's a sense of freedom you don't get from other holidays.
I’m really good at
...making new friends. I can walk into a grocery store and leave with a new friend's phone number and a plan to meet up for a yoga class later this week.

I'm also an expert at matchmaking friends and romantic partners. I love setting people up with other potential friends.
The first things people usually notice about me
I can (unintentionally) be a bit loud and I hold forth readily on any number of subjects.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I hate to admit it, but I live for tv!
Peep Show, Firefly, 30 Rock, The IT Crowd, The Office (UK), Arrested Development, 10 Items or Less, It's Always Sunny, Psych, etc.
I will basically watch any show -fiction or non- that features the paranormal: Dead Like Me, Supernatural, Grimm, all of the ghost-hunting shows.

As far as literature goes Southern gothic: Flannery O'Connor, John Kennedy Toole, Walker Percy, Thomas Wolfe. Also, F.Scott Fitzgerald, O.Henry, Ray BradburyErnest Hemingway, Evelyn Waugh, Jane Austen, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Elizabeth Gaskill and I love Series of Unfortunate Events

I also have a thing for Soviet-era Eastern European lit as it is usually pretty sexy. I like Ivan Klima, Milan Kundera, Mikhail Bulgakov, and 1984 (not technically Soviet but dystopian)

Music: Bellowhead/sea shanties, Beirut/klezmar Eastern European, cajun music, old-time fiddle music, Ryan Adams, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The cruel, painful existence of dinosaurs and their miserable lives.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love talking during movies and I believe in ghosts.
For whatever reason these two things have been deal breakers for men in the past, so I'll put them out there now so you can judge accordingly.
