Straight lists suck, I'm gonna write this like I'm talkin' at
I like a lot of trash genre fiction. You know, those paperbacks
about a dogfighting monkey AI. There are some great gems in there,
though like Hyperion (Canterbury Tales in Psycho-Space)or The Mote
in God's Eye (hard sci-fi does bizarre First Contact). My favorite
author of all time is Steinbeck, which is apparently more
controversial than I'd have imagined. There is a particular weak
spot for nautical historical fiction, specifically Patrick O'Brien.
Boats and hose.
You know all those amazing shows that have come out on AMC, HBO and
Showtime lately? Yeah, those. I mean everyone else has 'em listed.
TNG is the best Star Trek, Doctor Who is ok but the rabid fans are
starting to get on my nerves. If I so much as see a cartoon pony
somewhere there will be blood. Which reminds me, I like basically
everything Daniel Day Lewis is in. Which is kinda like saying
"chocolate desserts are delicious."
Daft Punk was my childhood (it amazes me that I've been listening
to Discovery for 11 years like it's been brand new). I'm a die hard
They Might Be Giants fan. I'm also fond of the cool jazz greats,
Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Dave Brubeck and Stan Getz (I am the
one person in the world that likes Girl from Ipanema). I have
recently discovered Squirrel Nut Zipper and love them way more than
my old swing-revival favorite, Big Bad Voo-Doo Daddy. Nujabes is
cool. The Protomen light up the god damn night.
I just filled out my last.fm, so it should fill up with time.
Have you been to Stacey's Five Dollah Hollah yet? Great Korean BBQ
Burrito from a food truck. Try it. Lane and Kenny. I have an
addiction to curry, so when I found out that there's a restaurant
in town that sells burritos filled with curry I got way too
excited. I also love hoppy beers, especially IPA's. I want to get
drunk on the taste of Imperialism.
I do play a good amount of video games, but the biggest one is
probably Dota 2. There's something about the sheer amount of focus
it requires that makes it almost zen-like. You just become
ensorcelled and every Earthly problem you have drops off behind
