My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Executive summary: I've never been married and I have no children. I live in an apartment for now, saving buying a house for when I have a family, or for when I decide my desire to have a dog, a fireplace, and a backyard for grilling outweighs the responsibilities of home ownership. I dine out at least a few times a week.

My sense of humor runs the gamut and can get me into trouble, so I've slowly learned to exercise my penchant for puns and dry wit at work, and save the more twisted humor for my personal life. So be prepared. My friends say they don't know what it would take to offend me, which I think makes life interesting and hopefully you will too. I consume an amount of Starbucks espresso that would leave most people awake for two days straight but has little effect on me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an IT professional. If I had to go back in time and pick another field of study, I'd have been a military historian. As things are, I satisfy my fascination and curiosity by watching the History Channel.

I like to travel, to Manhattan and especially to Las Vegas. Although I'm not a big gambler, I still go twice a year purely for vacation and fun.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I excel in seeing a situation from multiple perspectives, which tends to make me a moderate in many things.
Cooking things on my George Foreman Grill. Also, making grilled cheese sandwiches with what some consider "too much" cheese but I think is just about right.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably my height. I'm not "NBA" tall, just tall enough to fully utilize all of my high shelves (where I keep the really cool toys).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I like historical biographies. I'm currently reading one about Albert Einstein. I also like reading about military history, or anything funny. My favorite author is Isaac Asimov.

Movies: I like ridiculously-silly comedies, big-budget action movies, any kind of drama with an engrossing story, and 80s movies. Favorites include: 12 Angry Men, The Lord of the Rings, The Shawshank Redemption, The Hunt for Red October, Goodfellas, The Rock, 300, and Meet Joe Black.

TV: Band of Brothers, The Big Bang Theory, Dr. Who, Chuck, Firefly (and anything else by Joss Whedon), How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Heroes, Star Trek: TNG, and Family Guy. Channel-wise I'm usually watching The History Channel or Comedy Central.

Music: I like 80s hard rock and crappy 'big hair' bands.

Food: I'll try most food once, but at my core I'm a "steak 'n 'taters" sort of man. I also like Italian, Chinese, sushi, seafood, barbecue, and cheese.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
(1) My ethical compass.
(2) My Netflix subscription.
(3) Media: books, movies, games, television, etc.
(4) Going to Las Vegas.
(5) Internet access.
(6) Tasty food that's terrible for me (I'm looking at you, cheeseburgers and beer).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think about what's currently going on in my life and in the world. Depending on the time of year, I also think about my next trip to Las Vegas.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Dining out, at the movies, or reading a book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Despite a loathing for most reality TV shows, I still watch Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor. I'll go hang my head in shame now...
