My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an animal-lover, a bookworm and a nerd's nerd. I'm a pessimist with optimistic inflections. I speak my mind, and can be honest to a fault.

I love reading books, playing video games, watching select YouTube channels and listening to a few podcasts. I also enjoy playing tabletop games and certain card games. If weather permits, I'll gladly go hiking, cycling, swimming, and/or play paintball.

My passions run deep, and when something sparks my interest I will often latch on with voracious curiosity. At least, so long as I remember what it is I'm interested again.

Wait, what was I talking about?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a full-time zookeeper working exclusively with birds. I love animals, so this is essentially my dream job.

Besides that, I'm very busy being a social hermit and living under a rock.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Animal husbandry. It's my hobby, my passion and my profession. I've worked pretty extensively with domestic animals, but my exotic animal experience is more substantial.

Spouting out useless bits of random trivia at inopportune moments

I'm a decent writer and like to draw from time to time. I have about a 50-50 chance of making awesome food or setting the kitchen on fire.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hard to say what people first notice, but what I first hear about is my hair. It was a bi-product of college laziness, but I think it looks much better long than it ever did short.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love a good book, and I'm especially fond of fantasy, sci-fi and fiction. My favorite authors include Douglas Adams, Aldous Huxley, H. P. Lovecraft, Patrick Rothfuss, George R. R. Martin, Joe Abercrombie, Patrick Rothfuss, Will Wight, Miles Cameron and Mark Lawrence.

Like my taste in books, I love fantasy, sci-fi and fictional movies. I'm also very fond of the horror genre and animated movies have a special place in my heart. Typically, I like my movies to have a significant storyline and good characters - I don't care much for summer popcorn flicks if they're purely visual affairs. Three favorites are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Wall-E and Schindler's List.

I don't watch all that much television, I instead supplement the bulk of my viewership with several youtube channels. Of what TV I do watch, my favorite shows include Game of Thrones, Hannibal, The Wire and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Other noteworthy shows include Gotham, Q.I., Tokyo Ghoul, The Blacklist and Attack on Titan.

For the most part my taste in music is grounded in the rock / alternative genres. If it isn't country, rap or hip-hop I'll probably give it a listen! I care very much about a song's melody and flow, and have an strong affinity for irish songs. My favorite bands include Flogging Molly, Alabama 3, The Offspring, Gaelic Storm, Queens of the Stone Age and Carbon Leaf.

I'm not a fussy eater, but texture matters a lot to me and there are some ingredients I positively detest (water chestnuts, yech). I'm very big on pasta and love italian food. I also thoroughly enjoy japanese, mexican and thai foods, and am willing to try just about anything different or culturally unique.

Since there isn't a category for it: Video games! I'm currently addicted to a combination of Fallout 4 and Dota 2. Other honorable mentions include Mechwarrior Online, Dark Souls, Diablo 3, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Portal 2 and Amnesia.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Friends, family, animals, literature, music and my health. I've spent stretches of time isolated with only these things, I know just how precious they can be.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I'm going to do tonight (the same thing we do every night, Pinky...).
When my next nap will be.
Did I already drink a cup of coffee this afternoon? I think I did. Maybe. I don't know. Better drink another, just in case.

Also, birds.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Resting! Zoos have very strange work schedules, meaning that my "weekend" never falls on Saturday / Sunday. I usually stay in to watch a movie, play video games or read a good book. I don't like parties or clubs very much, but I'll happily spend time with friends when I can.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have child-bearing hips. I hate them.

--You feel bad for slaying the dragons in Skyrim.
--You think an evening cuddled up with good Chinese food, video games and a potentially terrible movie sounds great.
