My self-summary
Before you begin, I should mention that this profile is old and certain things contained herein are outdated. I just didn't (and don't) want to go to the trouble of editing. So if yo'd rather read the newer more recent profile, it's here.

Hi. I'm Tyler. or Tyco, to my family. I'm quirky. I've been described by others as "eccentric", "strange", and "odd", which, apt as they may be, are less fun to say than quirky. I like to think I defy description. Also, I invented the avocado. Thank me later.

(by the way, I have a tendency to type -waaay- too much. Don't feel obligated to read everything.)

I'm a city kid who can ride horseback, and knows more about camping than most scout masters. I'm a Shakespeare buff, and a Sci-Fi geek. I play Chess, and go to raves. I'm a recovering corporate slave, with bohemian sensibilities. I'm a hopeless romantic, and an analytical pragmatist. I'm a good listener, who often talks too much. And most of all, while I enjoy the familiar, I'm always looking for new people, places, and experiences.

I'm looking for a partner in crime. An intelligent, independent woman who is as sick to death of the status-quo climate in which we live as I am. Someone to curl up with on the couch in front of a video, and someone to wander through the river valley with on a warm summer evening. Someone to meet with for Coffee or drinks and conversation. Y'know, boyfriendy stuff.

I love the theatre, whether I'm acting, directing or just watching. I'm a writer. Seldom published - it's more for myself because I just dig playing with words. The best way of putting it, I read on the profile of someone who calls herself Zhasminka; "I'm constantly tweaking things I write (my constant flirtation with repackaging the written word is almost an obsession)."
Moving on... Umm, I can't decide If I like Gouda or Brie better... I dig monochromatic colour schemes. I love cities - (I'll take the concrete jungle over ones you find in tropical climates any day.) And my jungle has scarier creatures prowling around at night than any tropical jungle could claim. I think archaic slang is hysterical, (you hip to my jive?), I kick ass at Trivial Pursuit, and quickly grow bored of filling out these personality profiles in the traditional sense. Therefore, new approach!

My favorite forms of sensory input!:

Visual: The Rockies, A genuine smile, enormous crowds of people.

Auditory: Laughter, Psy-trance, jazz, purring (girls or cats, they're both good.)

Tactile: Soft warm hands, squishy riverbed mud, kittens, the sun on my skin and a soft kiss.

Olfactory: Fresh ground coffee, freshly cut grass, the smell after rain and lilacs

Gustatory: Salsa, Green tea, Rhubarb, Mashed Potatoes, Diet Cola and Pixie Stix.

okay... back to prose... I'm extremely open minded, and you'll find that I'll often come around to your way of thinking, if you can present a convincing argument. I enjoy having my conceptions challenged, and I don't get offended. Ever. I have things I'm passionate and opinionated about, but I'll never dismiss anyone who disagrees with me.

I -still- find "all your base" amusing. I know, it's over. I don't care.

I just discovered The Weakerthans. I love this music.

Also, piercings and tattoos turn me on to no end. hmm, anything else?... mmm, I've been told I look like Ben Folds. Which I think is mostly just the glasses and the propensity for cool hats. But I like hearing it anyway. Okay, I guess I'm done. Moving on....

I am Absurd!, Intellectual, and a total geek.
What I’m doing with my life
Taking it one day at a time. Life's going to take you where it wants to anyway, and trying to bend it to your will only leads to frustration when the whole "rock-star-by-age-25" plan doesn't pan out. That said, I've still got dreams of my own, I want to be a writer or a photographer, since they're things I'm good at, and love to do.
I’m really good at
Making people feel special, Cooking, Writing, Acting, Photography, Playing Chess, Making up plausible sounding nonsense, I've recently been told I'm a great kisser, and I've got a halfway decent Baritone voice.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, I polled some people, and they told me that I appear intelligent, or that I have a nice butt, depending on what you'll focus on, when you meet me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Hmm. (A) I love all genres, but usually I dig Classical, Mysteries, and Science Fiction. Some Notable specifics: "The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Increasingly Inaccurately named Trilogy in five parts" "Ender's Game", (and the subsequent related books), "The Merchant of Venice" and "The Tempest" but as far as authors go, first on the list are all of Shakespeare's works, and I'm a big fan of T.S. Eliot, Douglas Adams, Tennyson, Aspirin and Dean Koontz. Stephen King is a bit of a guilty pleasure.

(B) There are very few movies I -don't- enjoy. I'm a big fan of the Back to the Future Trilogy (I geek out.), but I've got broad, eclectic tastes. Actually, I should mention the other two of the Trinity of Holy Trilogies as well; Indy, and the original three Star Wars. What else? ...Love the Die Hard trilogy, too. (I guess now it's a... Quadrology?), Oceans 11 & 12, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Breakfast Club, Clue, Clerks, Mall Rats, Amelie, blah, blah, blah, ad infinitum.

(C) Oh god...I could write ten paragraphs. Brief list? Sloan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Breeders, The Tragically Hip, Simon & Garfunkel, Huey Lewis & the News, Leonard Cohen, Weezer, Spirit of the West, The Kinks, Barenaked Ladies (more their older stuff) 80's music, Moxy Fruvous, um... okay, yknow what? fuck the brief list. don't feel obligated to read them all...Great Big Sea, ABBA, Ani diFranco, Elastica, Jamiroquai, Imogen Heap, Portishead, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Bran Van 3000, The Stones, The Clash, The Beatles...everyone loves the Beatles... Billy Joel, Rage Against the Machine, Ben Folds, The Cure, WAV Occupation, Peter Gabriel, OLP, Cadence, Alanis Morrisette, Sublime, Garbage, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Groove Armada, The Real Group, Jason Mraz, Rajaton, Classic Captain Tractor, and I'm learning to love Interpol, and The Decemberists... and on, and on... as far as genres go, I suppose some notables are New Wave Brit-pop, Psy, and Goa Trance, Jungle/D&B, and folk.

D)I Love cous cous, miso soup, and spicy foods, (mmmmm, Thai...) and I have a soft spot for mashed potatoes. I also have an unhealthy obsession with candy canes. Every January I go out and buy boxes and boxes at the discount price. Oh, and I drink waaaaaay too much coffee, as long as it's organic & fair trade.
The six things I could never do without
Why six? ...anyway... My Family, My best friend, my iPod, an endless stream of reading material, and a net connection. Keep me set with those five, and I'm good! I don't even need a sixth. ...okay, wait; Art. in all possible forms. That's six.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Everything-. I wonder if trees get bored being rooted to the same spot for decades. I marvel at the concept that so many popular foods like yogurt, and wine, among countless others, are literally things that have been allowed to go bad. I write brilliant songs in my head, and then forget them. I make up life stories for people I pass on the street. I wonder if I should go back to vegetarianism, and if it would be for the right reasons. I spend an inordinate amount of time on this site, trying to find the perfect wording for journal entries that no one will read. I think up fun things to do, and then try to enlist people to go do them with me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing. I love being out until 7 or 8 in the morning. Or at a party. Friends, music and drinks - a good way to spend an evening. I'm usually up for anything that gets me out of the house, even if it's just for a late-night walk with a friend, or sitting around a fire pit with some wine and good company
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm terrified of those little balls that laugh and vibrate when you pull their string. That mechanical laughter is so sinister. I also fear ladybugs, and zombies. Oh, and I can't stand to touch anything flocked.
I’m looking for

You should message me if
You enjoy great conversation, are intelligent, witty and adventurous, and don't take yourself too seriously. Or if you could use another friend. Or if you want to give me money, Or if you've got a lemur grafted to your head, 'cause that'd be neat!

...or if you spotted any typos on this profile. I seem to catch new ones every time I re-read it...

I have one last parting thought for you, too. It's hard to gain any insight into what a person is really like from a profile like this. So if you made it this far, may I suggest you go read a post or two in my journal? There are lots to choose from, so g'head! the tab is right up there at the top!
