My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Name's Tyler, if you couldn't tell by the oh so clever user name.

Not much to say, I suppose. I'm a bit of a cynic and a pessimist, but that doesn't mean that I'm not a nice guy and generally happy with my life. I do math, make music, hang out with friends, and really enjoy walking around outside. I have a lot of nerdy tendencies, like watching anime from time to time or playing a JRPG of some sort. I can be pretentious at times when it comes to art and related topics.

I've been known to fluctuate from very quiet to loud and obnoxious in a heart beat, with a sense of humor that is perhaps a little offbeat. But eh, it works for me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
So right now, I'm just going to school; I am attending U of O where I'll be working on my Ph.D. in mathematics. I got my undergraduate degree in math/physics, and a master's degree in mathematics (all from Texas Tech University).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Uh, not a lot really. I'm good at holding up conversations, making people laugh, and explaining things to people. I've been told I'm quite good at mathematics too, but I'm not so sure about that at times.

Oh, I guess I'm good at drinking coffee. And whiskey. But something tells me these are not really 'skills' in the traditional sense.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I do not know the answer to this; I would like to think something positive, but you never know. I might come off as the anti-christ to some people and I really wouldn't know (nor care).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Aside from my textbooks, 'Everything Is Illuminated', 'Cat's Cradle', Less Than Zero', 'The Collector', 'Waiting for Godot'
Movies: '8 1/2', 'The Machinist', 'Lost in Translation', 'Clerks', 'The Life Aquatic', 'Spirited Away'
Shows: 'House', 'Futurama', 'Arrested Development', 'Louie', 'Firefly', 'Cowboy Bebop', 'Peep Show'
Music: Oh God, just about everything, including some weirder stuff. Lately, I've been getting back into Dog Fashion Disco and Mogwai. Current favorites are Sonic Youth, Infected Mushroom, Mr. Bungle, Meshuggah, Purity Ring, Mars Volta, John Zorn, Frank Zappa, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tool, Melvins, Estradasphere, Primus, Busdriver. I also am a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu and Tenpai Sato.... I could go on and on, but I'll stop here.
Food: Thai food, and generally anything spicy. Not really picky as a whole though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My math textbooks, music, outside walks, my dog (honestly, he's almost certainly better than you), friends, family, internet. I guess that's as good a list as any.

And also, seven is better than six. I'm an over achiever.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How incredibly absurd human existence is as a whole.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Yeah, I'm usually at a bar with friends if I don't have to study for anything. Or, even if I do have to study, a bar isn't a bad idea (that's right, I bring my books and such when I go out).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I find myself "air guitar"-ing a bit more than I'd like to admit.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
-I look even remotely interesting; don't worry, I won't bite.
-You want to learn some cool math stuff.
-You like JRPG's as much as I do (most of my friends I've made here in town are more of the PC gaming type :/ )
-You like coffee or beer or want to show me tasty places to eat.
