I am curious, about everything, and open to company.

My Self-Summary

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO BE COMPLICATED.

I value honesty above all else. I can't be expected to make informed decisions in my life if I don't know where things stand. If you're straight up with me, I promise to return the gesture.

I have a dual-citizenship between the United States and Croatia. I don't identify as one more than I do the other. When in Croatia, I tend to think of myself as an American and as a Croatian when in the U.S.

I identify myself as both genderqueer and polyamorous, but this website didn't allow for those options when I wrote this profile, so I'm putting it here. If you have questions about what those terms mean, I'll be glad to answer them for you.

I used to be very active in the Boston Queer Community and many of my close friends are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). It is important to me that the people in my life are open minded.

My girlfriend is also on this site. If you're curious, you can check out her OkCupid Profile at SN: Chamedragon.

*Purely for my own amusement, I've decided to toss in some of my favorite quotes at the beginning of each section. This is entirely pointless and my profile was too long already... but what the hell.*

What I’m doing with my life

"Live in the present with Passion, forever Responsible, but never Guilty."
- Albert Camus.

I'm in college right now as a Political Science/History/Communications/Business quadruple major. It's completely insane, I know, but to be honest I really don't take it all that seriously.

Professionally, I've spent a good deal of time working in state politics (New York, Conn, and Mass) and occasionally work in international relations. I've also worked on a few independent feature films.

I’m really good at

"A man's Reach should exceed his Grasp, else what are Heavens for?"
- Robert Browning.

I used to be a semi-professional figure skater, but quit many years ago to go to college instead.

I recently started learning to spin fire.

I roller blade, ski, play soccer, play pool, and go dancing quite often. I took up salsa dancing for a while, but after my dance partner moved away my attendance became less than exemplary.

The first things people usually notice about me

"He has all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."
- Winston Churchill.

I'm probably the least humble person I know. It's a character flaw.

As far as my persona is concerned, I'll warn you that I'm pretty much the quintessential ENTP personality type, with all the benefits and disadvantages that entails (with one or two notable exceptions). If you're curious about what that means, check out the link below:

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

"If my answers frighten you, then you should cease asking scary questions."
- Jules Winnfield, "Pulp Fiction."

BOOKS: "On the necessity of Civil Disobedience" by Henry David Thoreau, "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury, anything written by Ambrose Bierce, Samuel Clemens, Michael Crichton, Joe Frank, Al Franken, Allen Ginsburg, Friedrich Nietzsche, Chuck Palahniuk, Salman Rushdie, Carl Sagan, Kurt Vonnegut, William Butler Yeats or is some form of Science Fiction

So many more, I never know what to update in this section.

MOVIES: I actually have a list written of my top 300 (or there about) favorite films, but it's way too long to put here. So, here they are, my Top Ten favorite films in descending order:

10) Blade Runner (1982)
9) Pulp Fiction (1994)
8) Sin City (2005)
7) The Sting (1973)
6) Doctor Zhivago (1965)
5) The Boondock Saints (1999)
4) Equilibrium (2002)
3) V for Vendetta (2006)
2) Entropy (1999)
1) Fight Club (1999)

When you see the content of these films, you'll quickly realize that I'm a fan of films that are Deep and Dark (especially in their sense of humor).

MUSIC: I'm eclectic in my music tastes. 12 Rounds, 311, Ace Of Base, Alanis Morissette, Alice In Chains, Ani DiFranco, Audioslave, Antonin Dvorak, The B52s, The Basement Jaxx, Ben Folds Five, Bloc Party, The Brazilian Girls, Bush, Cake, Casey Desmond, Coldplay, Counting Crows, The Cure, Damien Rice, Dave Matthews Band, Depeche Mode, Dimitri Shostakovic, Duran Duran, Dust Brothers, Elliott Smith, Erlend Oye, Esthero, The Eurythmics, Eve 6, Everclear, Everlast, Fastball, Fischerspooner, Flight of the Conchords, Foo Fighters, Frank Sinatra, Frou Frou, Fujiya & Miyagi, Garbage, The Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz, Green Day, Gustav Mahler, Harvey Danger, Incubus, Jamiroquai, John Lennon, The Killers, Marilyn Manson, Massive Attack, Matchbox 20, Mindless Self Indulgence, Moby, Muddy Waters, Nina Simone, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, No Doubt, The Offspring, OhGr, Paul Oakenfold, Paula Cole, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Pixies, PJ Harvey, Poe, The Police, Portishead, Primus, Prince, Prodigy, Queen, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rammstein, Royksopp, Sarah McLachlan, Savage Garden, Scissor Sisters, Sia, Sigur Ros, Slum Village, Smashing Punpkins, Sneaker Pimps, Stained, Stephen Lynch, Stereo MC's, Stereophonics, Sting, Stone Temple Pilots, Sublime, Supreme Beings Of Leisure, System Of A Down, Tenacious D, Tom Waits, Tool, TV On The Radio, U2, The Verve, The Wallflowers, The White Stripes, Whitetown, The Who, and Zero 7.

If it's good quality, I can listen to just about anything and enjoy it.

TELEVISION: 7 Days, American Dad, Battlestar Galactica (new version), The Boondocks, Boston Legal, Burn Notice, Californication, The Colbert Report, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Dexter, E.R., Ebert & Roeper, Engineering an Empire, Family Guy, Farscape, Firefly, Flight of the Conchords, Frasier, GPS with Fareed Zakaria, Highlander, House M.D., Mad About You, Mad Men, Man vs. Wild, Mind Control with Derren Brown, MythBusters, Prison Break, Pushing Daisies, The Rachel Maddow Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, Rome, Scrubs, The Simpsons, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Sports Night, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Star Trek (all of them), Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The West Wing, The Venture Brothers, and Will & Grace.

I never tried to claim that I wasn't a cultural media whore.

COMEDY: Bill Hicks, Eddie Izzard, and George Carlin.

SPOKEN WORD: Gil Scott-Heron and Joe Frank.

FOOD: I love Indian food! Mexican and Greek are way up there with me, as well. I also love certain aspects of my home Slavic cuisine. They have discovered the perfect solution to every cooking problem: more garlic and onion! Throw in some paprika and Ajvar (an Eastern European condiment like ketchup, but made from red peppers and eggplant) and I should be quite satisfied.

The six things I could never do without

"As long as exceptions exist, don't bother me with the rules."
- Stjepko Golubić (my dad).

I'm pretty adaptable. I can live without just about anything depending on my situation. I generally don't stress over materialism, although I will make exceptions to indulge my personal aesthetic sense.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

"Nostalgia! That's what we want. The good old days... when we gave 'em hell. A time when movies were in black and white... and so was everything else."
- Gil Scott-Heron.

Politics. I don't know why, but I love to get pissed off or just laugh about politics. Most of my political views fall into one of two categories: Libertarian or Socialist. I draw the distinction in that I feel individuals should have as many freedoms and protections as are possible without causing direct harm to others (libertarian). In essence, I don't believe that a victimless crime should be a crime. However, when dealing with organizations, there are inherent opportunities for abuse of individuals in the name of the libertarian freedoms of the group. That's where my socialist views come into play.

Most people, I've found, can not stand it when I talk about politics...

I'll stop now.

On a typical Friday night I am

"It's better to be awful, than mediocre." (my personal motto)
- explodinpenguin (my best-friend).

I'm not much for schedules. Or preconceived destinations. I frequently just get in my car and find my way to... something. Although, I usually make it a point to be on time in getting there.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

"Why must you be the screen door on my submarine, Brock?"
- Hank Venture, "The Venture Brothers."

I tend to invest far more of myself in my friendships and relationships (those that are up to my relatively high standards) than I should. While most people seem to have a fear of commitment, or at least a healthy sense of trepidation, I have a hard time stopping myself from committing myself to whatever I'm involved with. This leads to a personality that is viewed by others as both endearing and overwhelming.

Mostly it just results in my being disappointed.

You should message me if

"[WAR], A STRANGE GAME. THE ONLY WINNING MOVE IS NOT TO PLAY."
- Joshua, "War Games."

If I haven't yet provided enough information for you to start a conversation over, I fear you may require medical attention.

--This Is An Excerpt From A Live Journal Post I Wrote--
*not meant to be anything more than a theoretical guideline*

- I want someone who's INDEPENDENT. I want them to want to be with me, but to be comfortable without me.

Why is no one self-sufficient? When did that cease to be an admirable trait? People go into relationships for many reasons, but a major one is this: They feel incomplete. They aren't looking for another whole person. They're looking for someone to complete themselves. Stop looking for your problems in the world outside. Mirrors will help you find the source of your troubles far quicker.

- I want someone who's NOT JEALOUS. What I'm looking for in a relationship is a place for emotional security. If that's truly achieved, nothing else should be able to affect it.

Choice is Life. If you choose to go, I won't stop you. If I chose to go, I'll let you know. People need to stop trying to control everything, least of all other people. No one is only attracted to one person. If you believe that, you're deluding yourself. Sexuality should be an open and honest expression of a part of one's personality. Take the leap with me, with no reservations, or leave. 'Cause I'm not going to compromise my personality (any of it) for a relationship ever again.

- I want someone who's INAPPROPRIATE. Fuck social norms. Fuck what makes other people comfortable.

I Like PDA. I like being random. I LOVE making an ass of myself in public. I want someone to match. Hell, I want someone to one-up me and keep me on my toes. If you're with me, you shouldn't be worried about what I think of you, but you should be worried about what other people think of you, even less. Figure out what you believe and live your life accordingly. If they don't like it... who asked them, anyway?

- I want someone who's OPINIONATED. I don't care if you agree with me or not. Just Say so.

The worst affliction to a healthy relationship is boredom/ignorance. Either you're not informed enough to know what you're talking about or you're not creative enough to think of something to say. I fiend for mental stimulation. Are you interested in having philosophical discussions at 4 am? I'll be waiting.

- I want someone who's a SWEETHEART. It's true, I enjoy arguing (probably a little too much). I also become ridiculous around babies and animals (especially combinations there of).

I'm many things. Sure, I tend to be somewhat aggressive. However, I also like to cuddle after sex, play with puppies, and eat large amounts of chocolate, while watching films like Love Actually.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO BE COMPLICATED.
And I'd like someone to match.
