I am thoughtful, easy-going, and happy.

My Self-Summary

I'm happy with my job and life, and taking the lazy road to the PhD (one class per semester)! I have lots of vacation time and can plan trips. I enjoy sailing, cycling, snorkeling, etc. A little bit of everything in moderation, right? Like sushi and spicy food. I'm looking for someone who is not afraid of trying new things and going to new places. I like working on DIY house projects and I'm trying to get rid of a second home in Deland--don't know if that's a good thing given the current market turmoils.

You only live once...but live it right and once is enough!

What I’m doing with my life

I enjoy traveling and try to do it often. I've recently been to Washington D.C.(2008), San Francisco (2009 x2), and 5/09 Atlanta, Miami, Sarasota, and Jacksonville (hmmm, a lot of Staycations apparently). Watching dark clouds and swaying trees in a wind right before a huge thunderstorm is cool. Planning for Switzerland in 2010.

I’m really good at

Foosball and Connect Four. Don't know how it happened, but no one can beat me at those games! Also, watching peas grow in my back yard. It's slightly more exciting than watching the grass grow.

Actually, I'm good at my job and I feel like I can do anything. My job changed 180 degrees and now I'm a grant writer applying for about grants worth 750k for the next 5 years.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books? A book for a class... not much fun. I have enjoyed Bill Bryson and Jhumpa Lahiri in the past. I've recently read The Kite Runner and Middlesex. Music? 70s rock, 80s pop, 90s alternative, trance (and sub-genres!), punk, bhangra... my tastes vary, but my favorite is ska! Movies? Amélie, Pans Labyrinth, Definitely,Maybe, Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, etc... genre doesn't matter as long as it's good.

The six things I could never do without

1. Friends around the country, which give me excuses to travel to the West Coast, North, and beyond!
2. My bicycles, which are named Matilda and Grace Knight!
3. Warmth - I went to school up north, but now I'm back. Too cold up there with the lake effect and all. Brrrr!
4. A Place Of My Own - Where would I be without a place to relax, a place to have a fire in the fireplace (except we live in Florida), a place for home improvements, a place to scheme in landscape design, a place to paint walls, and a place to have a garden.
5. Volunteering, which consumes considerable time in my life.
6. NPR.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

When not thinking about that then I think about my future, my friends, planning future trips. Oh when, oh when, oh when am I going to finish this last degree?

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends... or not!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Your profile is cooler than mine. Sorry, no sarcastic come-backs or too-cool-for-you attitude in this profile.
