What I’m doing with my life

I run an atomic physics experiment, making lithium super cold. In practice this mostly means dealing with lasers, electronics, code, and broken equipment. I am finishing up a Ph.D. after which I plan to leave the halls of academia for the real world.

Mostly I have seen clever and witty answers in this box. I think I'll try for something different.

The math says we have a basic resource (food, energy, mineral) problem on this planet, and as much as I don't want to believe it, I can't find a way around it. It seems that within our lifetimes, sustainability will be forced upon us, and it may be an ugly process. So I have been trying to work out how these transitions realistically might occur.

This is by no means an obsession for me, but I find it interesting. Thoughts, comments, musing welcome.
