Not too long ago, someone emailed me telling me that I was a fake.
He said it several times in fact: "Fake. Total fake."
I wasn't entirely sure I understood what he meant. Did he think my
profile was fake? That I was pretending to be something or someone
I wasn't?
For a total moron, he has an amazing sense of perception. This is
me. I am not pretending to be someone else.
But, in complete honesty, "fake" is probably one of the best words
one could use to describe me. 10 points to anyone that caught the
irony in that sentence.
It's true. It's a defence mechanism.
My friends will tell you I'm an extrovert. I'm an introvert.
My friends will tell you I'm one of the most confident people
they've ever met. I turn into a nervous wreck whenever I'm faced
with a new experience.
My friends will tell you I'm friendly and easy-going. I'm cranky
and easily irritated.
My friends will tell you I couldn't care less what people think
about me. This is so far from the truth, it's not funny.
See? I'm a fake.
But is that really a bad thing? Cause if I didn't fake it, I'd come
across as a shy, nervous, grumpy, negative guy with a low
self-esteem.
What on earth would motivate me to do that? I'd have no friends, no
job, no life.
Yes, you obnoxious messenger, you hit the nail on the head. I fake
it.

Self-promotion: Just finished my first short documentary. It's a
touching, honest look at a friend who has Down syndrome. Love to
