I am cute, funny, and nice.

My Self-Summary

Hello there! *waves* My name is Ashley and the adjectives above were used to describe me by a friend of mine. I claim no responsibility for their voracity but have reproduced them here in good faith.

I am your somewhat stereotypical good natured, honest, geeky male in his mid twenties, who works full time, is purchasing his own property and enjoys the company of others. I make many jokes, some of which are funny.

Do you remember the time that Rene Descartes walked into a bar? The bartender asked him if he wanter a beer, Rene said "I think not" and he disappeared.

Most of my jokes are a bit like that... funny if they make sense to you.

I would love to meet somebody who enjoys getting out and about, talking about what is going on, joking about anything and doesn't mind playing some frisbee. I am keen to find someone sweet, cute and with a brain behind her eyes, who can appreciate some of the simple things and enjoy the majesty of the complex.

I'm heading back to University to complete my first Bachelors degree next year (well I'll be starting a degree next year not finishing it). I love to read supernatural fiction novels (I think that it's interesting that some bookstores have added this as an additional category recently because of increasing popularity). I love to get outdoors but need to get fitter. (Fancy an afternoon of ultimate Frisbee anyone?) I ride a yellow motorcycle and drive a yellow car. As you can probably tell my favourite colour is yellow.

What I’m doing with my life

I work full time in government managing traffic systems and developing new tools to help people get around easier. It can be fascinating or boring beyond reason, but then, all things can be.

I'm soon going to be balancing that with studying a Bachelors degree part time in an effort to enrich my contributions to society.

I’m really good at

I'm reasonably good at telling jokes that some people understand. I can create well reasoned arguments with aplomb and enjoy exercising my verbosity for fun.

The first things people usually notice about me

I hope that my usual first impression is a smile upon my pretty ordinary face.

There really is nothing better that making somebody's day better that it was when you met.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favourite books make me think or let me escape into an alternate universe. I particularly enjoy supernatural fiction and fantasy novels, but I love to read anything with a plot and more that two adjectives.

That said some of the authors I've enjoyed recently include; Anne Rice, Richelle Mead, Charlaine Harris, Jeffery Deaver, Lee Childs and Katie MacAlister.

I enjoy movies of all flavours with my current favourite being Basic. I really like movies that make you think or split your sides laughing, but something that lets you immerse yourself in another universe are a great escape.

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music with my only aversions being Death Metal and other music where the lyrics are screamed rather than shouted. My current favourite artist would be George Hrab who produces his own Pop/Rock/Funk/Folk fusion music for a niche fanbase. I love his stuff because it is a real mixed bag.

I think that the best meals are experiences not just sustenance. From the velvety texture of in season stone fruit to the crisp snap of fresh greens and the melting feeling of chocolate dissolving on your tongue, it's not just about taste, or smell but the whole experience, feeling, smelling, seeing, hearing and tasting. I must say though that I'm not a vegetarian.

The six things I could never do without

This is by no means unique buy I wouldn't want to be without;
a challenge,
companionship,
my friends,
my memories,
something to read, and
my sanity.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The meaning of my presence on this gorgeous little rock.
Matters of principle.
How my worldview affects my appreciation of the world around me as it truly is.
Why I don't seem to make it to the gym as often as I should.
Why I drank so much last time I drank too much.

On a typical Friday night I am

On a 'typical' Friday night I am enjoying a beverage or two with friends from work. We talk about anything, enjoying each other's company without the stressors of work before retiring to our respective weekends and all that awaits.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

The most private thing that i'm willing to share with the whole world is that some of the matters that I considered writing in this box still affect me heavilly despite the time that has passed.

You should message me if

I humbly invite you to message me if you think that we could enjoy scintillating conversation, rambunctious roughhousing or a refined evening of entertainment together or any combination of the above.
