About Me
I'm a happy and healthy 36 year old man with a successful and challenging career looking for someone to share happiness with. My last relationship ended in 2012 and I plan to learn from that experience and hopefully make the next one more successful. I haven't dated much since partially due to focusing on my career and partially because I'm struggling to meet good people.

As far as my family life goes, I'm the oldest of four and enjoy my family time, whether its meeting up on Saturday mornings for the farmer's market, playing cards or just getting together for a meal. It's not uncommon for my dad to help me with a home improvement project and my mom to teach me something new to cook.

I grew up on a farm in rural southwest Michigan. We raised a variety of farm animals and crops, giving me an appreciation for hard work, teaching me responsibility and a respect for each dollar earned. I've always been a somewhat natural athlete, playing baseball, tennis, track and bowling. In high school I found a talent for drafting and started down the Computer Aided Drafting career path and at 18 I moved to Kalamazoo to attend KVCC in the engineering program. Eventually I found that I enjoyed information technology more than engineering and changed my major and then went on to get my bachelors degree of science in Computer Information Systems, graduating with honors from Baker College. I've now been in the IT field for 12 years with last 8 in healthcare. I'm now a suburban home owner of 10 years. I live in a good neighborhood in a modest home but hope to someday outgrow it and move to a bigger, fancier one. Right now, what I have fits me just perfectly. I have very little interest in moving back to the country.

Although I have a pretty active social life, I look forward to meeting someone that is equally happy with a quiet night at home trading backrubs on the couch and watching Netflix or something on the DVR. My group of friends joined the Kalamazoo Sport and Social Club earlier this year, playing dodgeball and kickball, which I expect we'll start doing again this fall. I also play on a coed volleyball league in the winter, I league bowl on Thursday nights and hit the gym for pickleball and wallyball on Tuesdays. When it's warm outside I run 7-8 miles several times a week. I like to stay in shape and eat healthily, but I still like to stop at Coldstone, McDonalds or Taco Bell periodically as a reward.

My personality is difficult to describe. I'm confident, but not cocky or arrogant. My parents taught me chivalry, respect and good manners and I treat others this way until you give me reason not to. I tend to get along very well with almost anyone as long as they are respectful in return. I'm inquisitive, which can sometimes be misinterpreted but is really just my attempt to understand and/or learn something or a point of view. My sense of humor ranges from silly and juvenile to crude and taboo, including everything in between, but I'm typically very good at censoring based on my audience since I realize that not everyone appreciates all kinds of humor. I'm adventurous but not reckless. I love technology but I'm not a nerd and definitely not a gamer. I like the finer things in life, but only if they are worth the cost.

So that's my abbreviated autobiography and it should give you an idea of who I am and if I'm someone that interests you (and if you would interest me as well).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an IT professional in the healthcare industry. I like what I do and care a lot about my career. It would be best if you did, too.

Learning from my mistakes in hopes of not repeating them. I sometimes do, however.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
*Identifying celebrity voices in commercials
*Volleyball & wallyball
*Dodgeball & kickball
*Home improvement projects

My stunning physical appearance, obviously. It's apparently so powerful that it causes women short-term amnesia, impacting their ability to recall ever having seen me. Effectively, it's like they don't noticed me at all. I assume that this is some sort of built in defense mechanism of the female psyche.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Fight Club, Tombstone, The Devil's Rejects, The Big Lebowski, Inception, Snatch, Se7en, The Shawshank Redemption, Lawless

Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Orange Is The New Black, The Americans, The Walking Dead, Derek,Family Guy and Vikings are among my favorite television shows. Settle down, Game of Thrones is on my list to watch.

I love music but I don't listen to country or most top 40. I prefer non-mainstream music for the most part.

I pretty much like all food. I'll try almost anything. I ate horse while I was in Germany. It was delicious. I had traditional Scottish haggis (the kind that is banned in the USA) while visiting Loch Ness (it was ok, no need to try it again). I don't like canned spinach, but love most veggies.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music (sans 99% of all country music)
Affection (I like to love and be loved)
Technology (I have an insatiable appetite for data and connectivity)
Dark Chocolate (ok, I could live without it, but why?)
At least one long-term goal (I'm one motivated mo-fo)
Coffee (dark, black, no sugar)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to continuously improve my quality of life. Step 1: find someone to share it with.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm usually out with my usual circle of friends socializing. If you're lucky, you can eventually become part of this elite group.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I have a man-crush on Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum. I want to hate Channing, but I just can't.

To avoid any potential confusion, 'Man Crush', as defined by Urban Dictionary: When a straight man has a "crush" on another man, not sexual but kind of idolizing him.
I would add to that definition "and having a sincere appreciation for his appearance, personality and talent".
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
-You've actually read at least some of my profile and have a question or comment to start a conversation.

You shouldn't message me if
-You cannot or will not attempt to use proper spelling, grammar, and syntax. The key word is "attempt". Typos and mistakes happen (I make them, too) and typically it is obvious if the root cause is ignorance/laziness.

-You do not have pictures (plural) in your profile.
