I am passionate, adventurous, and ambitious.

My Self-Summary

I am a theatre person above all else. I love Shakespeare (I want to play Ophelia, Beatrice, Kate, Hermia and/or Helena, Gertrude, Lady M., and Titania at some point in my life) but I also love political, queer, and feminist theatre. I have strong opinions and am not afraid to share them. I am unhesitatingly liberal, feminist, and queer. I love books--I'm always reading at least 4 books at a time, and if you discuss books/literature with me, I'm yours forever. I'm constantly singing, and I love to dance around my room, do yoga, and play outside--especially in the rain and the snow. I love hockey--I'm a die-hard Sabres fan.
I have a cat named Puck. I'm more than halfway convinced he's actually a ninja. He opens closed doors and can climb walls. If I didn't love him so much, I would be terrified of him.

What I’m doing with my life

Theatre and social activism. Hopefully at the same time. I love to be on stage and I don't think I could be fully happy if I were doing something else with my life.

I’m really good at

Not acting my age while still giving off the image of a put-together, responsible grown-up; singing loudly as often as possible; memorizing lines (the whole theatre person thing); becoming completely engrossed in a book or in music; and playing around outside.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair, my eyes or my smile. My friends say I give off a vague air of regalness, which is as far from the truth as possible.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Authors and Books: Shakespeare, Neil Gaiman, Jeanette Winterson, George Orwell, Steven King, Sarah Waters (mostly because of Tipping the Velvet), Tennessee Williams, Jessica Valenti, Les Feinberg, Judith Halberstam...and anything I can find. I've left off so many. Discuss them with me and get an even longer list

Movies: The Princess Bride, 10 Things I Hate about You, Breakfast on Pluto, Same-Sex America, Saved!, Crash, Donnie Darko, Love Actually, anything directed by (or having to do with in any way) Tim Burton, Wallace and Gromit, Pay it Forward, Disney movies, Millions, The Dead Poets Society, Pan's Labyrinth, and too many more to count.

Music: As varied as my interest in books. I was raised on country and it's still what I love. I also love Broadway show tunes, Alix Olson, Ani DiFranco, classic rock, The Decemberists, The Dresden Dolls, and anything else that sparks my interest.

Food: I'm a vegetarian and I love anything spicy. I could live solely on Thai and Indian food. And cheese.

The six things I could never do without

Snow, a stage and audience, music, books, lilies, and the Buffalo Sabres

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I'm going to do with myself in the real world, how to help/fix the world, anything that catches my attention (I tend to have the attention span of a three-year-old--anything shiny, brightly colored, or moving will catch my eye)

On a typical Friday night I am

Doing one (or more) of many things: hanging out with friends, going out, going to concerts, wandering a bookstore, curling up with someone and watching a movie, or deciding last minute to go with friends and just have an adventure.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have Miley Cyrus and Disney songs on my iPod. And I listen to them quite often.

You should message me if

You want to talk about books, music, politics, or anything at all. I love people, and if anything on here piques your interest, message me!
