I am calm, centered, and curious.

My Self-Summary

Hello there,

Thank you for stopping by. I am a second year grad student in a doctoral program at the U of O (sciences). I feel odd about dating people in my program and about dating my students...so here I am! I love the fall in Eugene and it would be great to find a friend, hopefully leading to more, to explore Eugene with.

I have one younger brother who works as a software engineer for Hewlett Packard. I mention this because I have a strange ability to tell whether a person I meet is an only child, has a brother as a sibling, or has a sister as a sibling. I am right nearly 90% of the time. I think that siblings and birth order have more influence on our personality development than many people realize.

It is safe to say we are a rather technically-oriented, rational (hopefully not boring!), traditional family. My family is tight-knit and we still go on family vacations even though both my brother and I are basically "grown up" now.

I have no weird secrets or strange surprises lurking. It would be wonderful if you didn't either :-) Basically I am a normal girl, trying to get this whole relationship concept right. I am 28 and I want to, someday, settle down with the right person.

What I’m doing with my life

As an indentured servant at U of O, I take classes, teach, and work on two research projects.

I’m really good at

Teaching! So I've been told.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have a huge smile, similar to that of the Cheshire cat.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I only read textbooks now, but in the past I enjoyed reading classics and bestsellers. The last book I finished was the Unbearable Lightness of Being. I am halfway through the book Dear Everybody, which is more of a collection of notes, but it will break your heart.

I like the movies that the Bijou shows, my favorite of the year was hands-down Slumdog Millionaire, and I also liked Happy Go Lucky. I like silly movies even if they don't have much of a plot, and I really enjoyed The Hangover.

Gosh, I eat everything, as long as it doesn't have milk in it. Which then limits what I could have eaten. I love that Eugene has many vegan alternatives, not because I'm vegan but because they are dairy free!

The six things I could never do without

1) Family
2) Friends
3) A job that I feel good about
4) My Blackberry. I know, try it and you'll become an addict.
5) My computer. I teach online in addition to grad school for a little extra dough.
6) A long cuddle after a hard day.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Classes/teaching/research. And what I would do if I didn't have all of them to distract me.

On a typical Friday night I am

Getting together with people from my department. Actually yesturday night (Friday night) we ran a research subject.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My parents are divorced? Honestly, I don't have any strange secrets that I am hiding from everyone. I must be lucky.

You should message me if

You are a kind person (and you are sure of this). You look for the good in people and the world around you. You have been around the block dating and you want to find the right person at this point.
