I am cynical, caustic, and lawful evil.

My Self-Summary

I'm not gonna lie here; I'm not a nice person. I can be pretty blunt, and some days I can be downright vicious. I'm typically pretty cold and standoffish to the populous at large and I know why that is, I just haven't really been given any reason to change that. Note that when I say "can", I mean "have the potential to" not "will be unless otherwise required". I have a little tact. Not a lot, mind, but it's there. I can also be a decent person, but I don't typically hide my thoughts or opinions.

Typically, the things that attract people to me are the things that they complain about the most, so I don't know what to think; I know what I think of it, though. There's nothing that can't be joked about - nothing is sacred. Grow some fucking skin and get on with your life. Words can only hurt you if you let them.

I will question your thoughts and beliefs and your opinions; I will do this regardless of if we agree or not, but more so if we disagree. This doesn't mean I'm going to convert you to my side - I like to learn about people and their reason for thinking what they think. I will give you my reasons as well, which might come from a soapbox if I feel strongly about something. Sometimes a guy just likes to rant. I appreciate a good rant. Ranting can be entertaining, and is a fun word to say. Rant rant rant rant.

Now you know all the "bad" things about me. I figure it's better to get all the unpleasantness out of the way as it's much easier to say "here's all the good things! get the bad shit thrown at you later!" but much more honest to say "here's all the things people don't like about me, if these don't bother you we'll get along swimmingly." Then you get to learn all the good things as they come and it's an overall more positive experience, since you start at the bottom of the curve and work your way up. That's the theory, anyways.

What I’m doing with my life

Attempting to get a master's degree in psychology. I have a BS in psychology, and yes I do analyze everyone around me. If I didn't, wouldn't that mean I learned nothing from my studies?

I’m really good at

Playing games. Board games, role-playing games, console games, PC games, mind games, you name it. I'm also good at all those things one thinks of when they think of a (good) psychiatrist. I'm not going to list them; use your imagination.

The first things people usually notice about me

I wouldn't know, I'm not them. Cop out answer? You betcha! Do I care? Not a whit! I imagine everyone notices something different depending on height, personal preference, and blood alcohol content. I suppose if I had to pick something, I'd go with "I'm built like skeletor".

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I tend to read graphic novels over actual books, so my favorite book is Transmetropolitan. I do like actual books as well, I just read more graphic novels as of late. Watchmen was also a great read, so much so that I don't want to see the movie because I would turn into "that guy" who bitches about XYZ not being in the movie/book. No one likes that guy.

I like a lot of metal(ocalypse), with a bit of other things like Celtic music and classical. I can deal with most kinds of non-country, non-rap, barring very few exceptions. That doesn't mean "I like all kinds of music" so much as it means "I won't wish for your untimely demise for liking that music".

I like food. Tea is good. Anything Italian is typically delicious, and I'm generally willing to try anything once. I can cook. I'm no Gordon Ramsay, but I like to think I'm at least better than Bobby Flay. Watch food network with me sometime, I go on some awesome tirades.

Not really big on movies really, but I like a lot of anime so I'll sub that in. Stuff like Death Note and Gurren Lagann are great, Bleach is decent, and most of the Shoujo crap is just that.

The six things I could never do without

Let's call this the "things I do/use a lot and would be really bored without", shall we? Okay.

RPGs. Role Playing Games, not rocket-propelled grenades. I could live without rocket-propelled grenades. Mostly I do D&D, but lately I've been getting more and more interested in doing something in the Noun: the Verb group (aka something White Wolf makes).

World of Warcraft. I like this game, but I quit recently. I won't go into the details, though. Ask if you're that interested.

Magic: the Gathering. I play this on fridays and sometimes saturdays, if I have nothing else going. I play as competitively as one can when playing in local tournaments only.

The internet. I spend a lot of time on various forums and what have you. I think I like talking over AIM more than the phone because I can go back and edit what I say, and I can send links to people. It also lets me get an impression of intelligence - yes, I'm one of those guys that expects you to exercise what you learned in elementary school and spell out you, are, for, etc. and know the difference between your/you're.

Hockey. The only sport I actually like. All the others bore me to death, especially with Michigan having no good teams except the wings. I like the Red Wings. I'm from southern Michigan, I'm allowed to like them without looking like a poser.

H. P. Lovecraft. I realize it's overhyped and mostly only goth kids like it, but oh well. I like his style and the setting he created. I think letting people's imaginations do some of the work actually makes a story better, rather than describing everything in gory detail.

Sarcasm. If I lost that, I'd be so very very quiet.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I don't really spend a lot of time thinking about any one thing. My mind wanders like it got dropped in a desert.

On a typical Friday night I am

The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't have anything that is "private" per se, but here's something that is good for this spot: I swear a lot. This goes into that whole "tact" thing as above. I think that saying "these words are 'bad' because they're bad so we shouldn't use them" is dumb as shit, so if I toss around words you wouldn't use in public it means I feel comfortable around you; I'm pretty uncomfortable around new people and tend to not say anything.

You should message me if

You know if you should message me or not. Follow that instinct.
