My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
It's a trick question. The glass is always full of SOMETHING.

My favorite thing to do is learn new things, so I've listened, eaten, read, and seen lots of different things, had lots of different jobs, seen lots of different perspectives, and enjoyed it. I'll try just about anything once. I like talking about lofty, intellectual, smart people things, and also gross, stupid, and ridiculous things. If you're interesting in pretty much any way, we'll probably get along.

I like horror movies because I like being scared without actually being haunted by a ghost or being knifed to death. I find humor in pretty much everything, including laughing at inappropriate times, but I haven't hurt myself losing it in a vicious laughter cycle yet; realizing how uncouth it is, being more amused, getting caught in a laughter feedback loop, eventually curling into a ball with tears streaming down my face. There's worse ways to go.

I DON'T like birds but I think they're awesome. I don't like mean people but I like to think about why they're mean. I really like sports because I like strategy and competition, but I also like sports because I like getting drunk and yelling with a bunch of other people.

I'm a Seattle native, so if you want someone to show you around, I can probably put together a pretty fun themed bar crawl.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an engineer at a large aerospace company in town that you've probably heard of, and I try to keep everyone there from finding out that I got a degree in English and Philosophy. Right now I cut up airplane parts and take pictures of them. It's kind of like airplane CSI. I DON'T work on computers anymore; this is a good thing. I like playing with them when they aren't broken, though.

I have a close group of friends and I try to spend as much time with them as I can. I play sports. I read books. I play bass in a band and sometimes we play for people. Sometimes I am doing homework. I'm okay at a lot of things because I always like to try new things. I will karaoke, and probably stay until someone drags me away.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Taming cats, exciting dogs, dodging birds. Calculating the peak drunkenness level for performing athletic activities. Counting how many times sports broadcasters use double entendre in a single game. Extroverted introspection. Arcade basketball. Becoming louder as my blood alcohol content rises. Sincerity.

I think it's the beard. Why do you all love beards?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite movie adapted from a book that's about music is High Fidelity, and my favorite musical food is candy whistles. My books are sorted by color. I'm a huge sucker for animated movies in 3D, terrible campy horror, and giant robots/monsters.

I really think this section is almost entirely irrelevant because I think it's important to know WHY someone likes something and not just what it is, but to satisfy your curiosity:

Music: I usually just open my list of like 3 weeks worth of tunes and hit "random." But my favorite music of all time comes from Nirvana, Less Than Jake, The Black Keys, Coheed and Cambria, Ozzy-era Black Sabbath, Deftones, Elliott Smith, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Girl Talk, Outkast, Nine Inch Nails, NOFX, and The Dandy Warhols. I've also been listening to a lot of The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, and Black Flag/80's hardcore bands because our band plays similar stuff.

Movies: The Blues Brothers, anything by David O. Russell, Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, and the Coen Brothers (The Big Lebowski is my favorite), Black Dynamite/The Naked Gun/other cheesy parody, westerns, horror, mob/spy/martial arts movies. I also think Vin Diesel out-acted Ben Affleck in Boiler Room.

TV: Bob's Burgers is the best show on TV now that Breaking Bad is over. Comedies about terrible people and weirdos (Workaholics, Louie, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The IT Crowd), documentaries (especially BBC nature documentaries), story-driven police drama more than procedurals (Sherlock, The Shield, The Wire, True Detective), political drama (The West Wing), Veep

Books: The first four Dune books, Jorge Luis Borges, Dashiell Hammett/Raymond Chandler/hard boiled noir detective novels, Catch-22, Pynchon, DFW, sports analytics stuff

Food: Indian, pho, sushi, hot pot/schezuan
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A good library.
A good friend.
Rocking and rolling every night.
Partying every day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What city to see next, cognitive dissonance, puns that include the word "pho", a neutral medium for a bear and a shark to fight in so they could have an equal matchup (jello? robotic exoskeletons?), mindfulness, ironically.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Happy hour hopping, hatching a plan, watching a good movie, nerding out with a book, playing some complicated board game, or decompressing in my introvert cave.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
One of these things is a lie:

- People in Japan dance like ME
- A hamburger with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns is just like a cheeseburger with extra bread and you shouldn't be ashamed of eating it on a dare no matter what the person who made it for you says
- I have never eaten a hamburger with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns
