My self-summary
Bruce Springsteen meets Woody Allen. I take the examined and active life together, thank you very much, balancing left brain with right, contemplation with spontaneity, rock with Bach. History, philosophy, whiskey, cycling, and ideas all turn me on.
What I’m doing with my life
I got my M.A. in History last year, and while I plan on returning to Grad School, right now I have a few gigs. I mainly work for the Museum of the City of New York and a progressive nonprofit, Civworld. Outside of that I spend my time writing for online magazines, leading walking tours of the city, meeting up with folks, and basically enjoying my life thus far.
I’m really good at
Taking you to amazing places in the city you never imagined could exist.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: top three books - Without Feathers by Woody Allen, The Power Broker by Robert Caro, and Art and Experience by John Dewey. Also, To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. Other fave authors include: Nabakov, Whitman, Woolf, Bellows, Franzen, Auden, Jarrell.

Movies: Dramas, indies, and documentaries. Here's a smattering: This is Spinal Tap, Fargo, Children of Men, Ric Burn's New York, Gimme Shelter, Ran, and Chinatown.

Music: Music is quite important to me, and my tastes are rather eclectic. Depending on the time and place you'll find me savoring classical (I'm a huge fan of Bach, as before mentioned), bopping to dirty 60's soul (Jr. Walker and the All-Stars), or winding down with a bit of classic country (Buck Owens and the Buckaroos).

Food: Anything spicy and savory I adore. Indian, Mexican, American, Japanese, Korean.

TV Shows: Mad Men, Girls, Arrested Development, Ken Burnsey-stuff, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Whose line is it anyway (both English and American versions - I'm sorry, I happen to enjoy the hoedowns),

Visual Artists (why not?) : Northern Renaissance, Expressionism, and Realism. Gustav Klimt, Kadinsky, John Sloan, and Bruegal rank highly.

You place equal value on intelligence and passion.

You are genuine, have a sense of humor, and get geekily excited about whatever interests and moves you.

You enjoy spending afternoons dreamily browsing bookstores and museums, or walking slowly through a park.
