My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an *actual* DC native who loves nerdy things, the outdoors, people who are both kind and smart, animals, and things (and people) that make me think.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have made a lot of recent changes to more aggressively pursue the life I want. I am working toward a career in writing speculative fiction and, towards that end, recently traded in my security uniform for a gig driving for Lyft. Thus far, it's proving more fun, more lucrative, and much more conducive to a writing lifestyle. I'm also working on reclaiming fitness, a prospect complicated by a fairly deep loathing of running and a Southern-style culinary upbringing (I wasn't allowed in the kitchen much because I'm male and the food being cooked wasn't particularly healthy anyway -- though undeniably delicious because butter and frying = yum).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being a loyal friend, giving awesome hugs and shoulder/piggyback rides, staying calm and keeping my head in a crisis, telling stories, walking the fine line between extroversion and introversion, remembering names and faces (but not always how they go together), lucid dreaming, making good cooks proud of their good cooking, mischievous looks, killing myself in video games by running off platforms, useless knowledge, being kinky and much more of varying degrees of value.

My favorite genres are science fiction/fantasy/supernatural, anime, mystery, and suspense/thriller but I love anything with a good story and compelling characters. The lists are long, so I'm just going to go with a few of the more recent I've experienced in each category and liked.

Books: Foundation; Skin Game (The Dresden Files #15); I, Robot; The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

Movies: Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier

TV: UFC, Drunk History, Avatar: Legend of Korra, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Adventure Time!, Bob's Burgers, South Park, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones

Netflix Binges: American Horror Story: Asylum, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Walking Dead, Fringe

Games: Destiny (Beta), The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, I AM Alive, Mark of the Ninja, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Braid

Breaking my own rule with these last two categories. Sue me.

Music: I love nearly everything but mostly listen to movie and game soundtracks, classical, classic rock, and electronic/dance

Food: Italian, sushi, (real) ramen and other Asian noodle dishes, Elevation Burger, Five Guys Famous Burgers & Fries, Ray's The Third cheesesteaks, double-sauced meatloaf, mashed potatoes, eggs
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Geekdom in all its forms, my friends, sex, chocolate, and laughter. Yes, I know those are only five things. Maybe you will be Number Six (cheese factor GO!).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Oh, you know, bear stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Enjoying food and nerdy TV with my best friend and his wife (and new adorable baby OMG!). Hitting the road to do some heavy Lyft-ing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I had a childhood crush on Gadget from Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers.

I get on best with smart, quirky, nerdy girls who have found something about which to be passionate. Someone who knows how to cook healthy food (help!) and who would be willing to join me in my fitness pursuits would be fantastic. And, at the risk of scaring some off, I am a dom, so I need someone compatible with that orientation. Please understand it has nothing to do with archaic gender roles or anything like that. It's just how I'm built.

In the interest of saving time weeding out the wrong people, I should let you know I am liberal. I believe government has a legitimate role in society. I believe in erring on the side of compassion and that people matter more than "institutions" and tradition. I support gay marriage and a woman's right to choose. I am a vocal critic of organized religion, the 1%, and Objectivism in all its insidious forms.
