My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Reasonably self-aware, thoughtful, unassuming, often shy, quiet, devoted to those around me. I believe in the concept that "less is more." However, I also like to experience the wide range of emotions of which humans are capable. I enjoy my work but am not obsessed by it. I try to live both small, by not being a big consumer (whether of stuff or people) and large, by squeezing as much out of life as I can. I try to give back to the world as much as I take from it and do no harm.

I can be reclusive at times, and generally enjoy calm over stormy, soft over loud, harmony over noise. I don't mind solitude but would like to expand my circle of friends and acquaintances and if more serious relationships should develop that would be fine.

I do think that when it is time it is important to love big, with maximum abandon and intensity, or not bother to love at all.

I like to see equally the profundities and absurdities in life.

I am loyal, private, and irreverent
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working in my chosen profession which I enjoy as much as when I began some 37 years ago. I'm past the career ladder-climbing point and am at peace with my present position and responsibilities.

I like to read, watch movies, play bocce ball (I built a court in my backyard), walk, and do yoga but not to excess. I enjoy having people for dinner and being in small groups. Something always seems to need work around my house but I have learned some skills over the years and am fairly competent doing that type of work.

I don't ski, chase younger women, or ride a Harley and am comfortably past the temptations of a mid-life crisis. Those will have to wait until the next mid-life, I suppose.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
....seeing many sides of an issue and was, for several years, on the union side of a joint Labor/Management committee whose sole purpose was to resolve conflicts when they arose.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair, I'm afraid (as if I had something to do with it). Good genes for which I'm not at all responsible.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Of movies from the last twenty years or so I enjoy small movies that tell a big story like "Cinema Paradiso" or "Big Night" I also love movies of the classic Film noir era (if Gloria Grahame were to come back to life, all bets are off). Favorite actors and actresses: Grace Kelly, Richard Widmark, Lee Remick....also, a huge fan of the classic character actors: Elisha Cook, Jr., Lyle Talbot, and especially the one and only, Timothy Carey.

I watch the Colbert Report, the Daily Show and think PBS' Judy Woodruff is the sexiest woman on television.

I am a classical musician by profession so, of course, enjoy all its different forms, symphony, opera and chamber music, etc. I grew up on 60/70's rock and roll, however, and still have a soft spot for that era (Beatles, Stones, Kinks). I enjoy some jazz and oddly enough, old standards, especially if they are sung in a quiet piano bar.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
knowledge that my children are safe and happy
ability to play music
potential for romance to flourish
my memories
ability to laugh
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I am in the performing arts so I usually have a concert to play on Fridays until about 10:00 after which I enjoy a quiet drink and people watching at a favorite establishment. I may meet friends after a concert but lately have have preferred solitude. If I go straight home after a performance I will usually watch an old 50's film noir movie to unwind.
